Mary Grace Davenport

(she/her)

LCSW, 6 years of experience

My goal is to create a warm and supportive therapeutic space to process life and resolve emotional distress. Whether you are struggling with self-esteem, a life transition, or just life in general (especially in these conflicting times), I’m grateful to hold space for you. I especially enjoy helping young adults and women in living more self-assured lives. I also have unique experience in supporting healthcare providers, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and people impacted by chronic illness, grief, and trauma. My schedule is typically a good fit for people who prefer to meet every other week.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I view therapy as a collaborative relationship where we can define your goals and work together to get there. My style is focused on being person-centered and values-based. Across sessions at your own pace, we will work together to explore emotions, gain insight, and develop strategies to help you navigate through challenging times. By identifying your values and allowing them to guide our work, we will practice self-compassion and mindfulness to create a more hopeful relationship with yourself, others, and the world around you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a social worker, I am specially trained to consider each person within their unique environment, and identify how trauma, oppression, and systemic injustice affects each person. This includes acknowledging/challenging oppressive systems and helping address the pain felt by marginalized individuals and communities. I highly value building safe, affirming, and non-judgmental therapeutic relationships. Each part of your identity is important, valued, and affirmed in our space. I wholly believe that you are the expert on your own life experiences. It is my privilege to get to hold space for your story.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I especially enjoy working with young/emerging adults and women who are often eager to become more secure in themselves but may be finding themselves stuck in loops of anxiety, worry, and insecurity. Together, we can reorient and help you feel more secure within yourself.

My treatment methods

Adlerian

Using Adlerian therapy, I support people in their sense of belonging and connection with themselves, others, and the world around them. I am very person centered and will also lean towards values-based approaches, such as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). I hold additional training in ARC (Attachment, Regulation and Competency), SFBT (Solution Focused Brief Therapy), TF-CBT (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and play/expressive arts.
