Finding balance in life isn’t about having everything perfectly in place, it’s about building the skills and support you need to move through challenges with confidence. That’s where I come in. I’m Tomekia Edwards, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas, New York, and California with over 17 years of experience helping individuals and families navigate life’s most difficult seasons. My background spans inpatient behavioral health, mobile psychiatric assessment, HIV case management, and working with service members and military families. These experiences have shaped my ability to provide grounded, compassionate care across diverse and complex situations. I commonly support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, work and school stress, and relationship challenges. My approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused techniques, allowing us to identify practical tools while also uncovering the strengths you already possess. I have extensive experience working with adults, children, families, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
During your first session, you can expect a welcoming space where your questions about the therapy process are answered openly. We’ll explore your mental health history, current concerns, goals, and most importantly determine whether we’re a good fit. Therapy is a collaborative journey, and feeling supported matters.
My greatest strength is my passion for helping clients recognize their internal resilience. My goal is to help you achieve balance, feel empowered, and walk away with practical strategies you can use in everyday life.
I work best with individuals who are ready for change, even if they’re not entirely sure what that change looks like yet. My ideal clients are often high-functioning on the outside but may be overwhelmed on the inside. They may be managing careers, school, family, or military life while silently navigating anxiety, depression, stress, or relationship challenges. They’re used to “holding it together”, but they’re tired of doing it alone. I connect deeply with clients who: Want practical tools they can actually use in real life Are open to exploring patterns that may be keeping them stuck Value accountability, growth, and self-awareness Are willing to be honest , even when it’s uncomfortable Many of the people I work with are adjusting to life transitions, balancing multiple roles, or trying to rediscover themselves after years of prioritizing everyone else. Some are members of the LGBTQIA+ community seeking affirming support. Others are service members or military families navigating the unique stressors of that lifestyle. You don’t have to be “at rock bottom” to work with me. You simply have to be willing to show up. If you’re looking for a therapist who will challenge you with care, help you build practical skills, and support you in creating balance... We may be a great fit for each other. If you’re ready to take the next step toward feeling more grounded and supported, I invite you to reach out.
