Hi, I'm Barbara Moore. I have been a psychotherapist for more than 20 years, and it has been my privilege to assist people in both outpatient and inpatient psychiatric settings. I hold an MSSW from Columbia University and a PhD in Social Welfare from Case Western Reserve University. I did my clinical internship and postdoctoral work at Yale University School of Medicine. I respect and admire folks who want to grow and overcome their challenges. I hope I can be there to support you on that journey. I use a variety of evidence-based approaches, including CBT, DBT, Seeking Safety, Motivational Interviewing, and exposure therapies for PTSD. We will talk about what you would like to achieve in therapy, and we will map out a way to get there. Specialties: Depression Anxiety Trauma and PTSD Substance Use Disorders Borderline Personality Disorder Narcissism
At our first session, we will spend some time getting acquainted and creating an atmosphere of safety and trust. I will listen carefully to your reasons for coming to therapy. Then, I'll ask questions about your history and current situation so that we can plan our next steps.
I care very much about my clients and I want them to succeed in therapy. I welcome you with empathy and respect. I believe that you want to create meaningful change, and I support you on that path using evidence-based techniques. My style is warm and direct.
I work primarily with adults who have trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and personality disorders.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
Therapies that I use include Dialectical Behavior (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment (ACT). I have found these helpful in teaching clients to accept and integrate painful emotions, identify priorities, choose healthy responses, and strengthen interpersonal relationships.
