Dr. Khandice Popley
Welcome, I am Dr. Khandice Popley (PMHNP-BC), a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over seven years of clinical experience in both medical-surgical and psychiatric settings. I provide evidence-based medication management designed to improve symptoms, strengthen coping skills, and enhance overall functioning. I take time to listen, educate, and create a treatment plan that aligns with your values and lifestyle. I prioritize clear communication, safe prescribing practices, and measurable progress. Let's begin.
First session
During the first session, clients can expect a thorough and supportive psychiatric evaluation focused on understanding their concerns, history, and treatment goals. I take time to listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and create space for clients to share at a pace that feels comfortable. Together, we will discuss treatment options, establish initial goals, and develop an individualized plan that may include medication management, supportive therapy, and education. I strive to provide a calm, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, informed, and confident about the next steps in their care. ****** Please note: Due to the additional monitoring and regulatory requirements associated with controlled substances, I do not prescribe controlled medications via telehealth. This policy helps support safe, responsible, and appropriate prescribing practices.
Strengths
I bring a compassionate, collaborative, and evidence-based approach to every session. With more than seven years of experience in medical-surgical nursing and psychiatric care, I understand that mental health is deeply connected to a person's overall health, life experiences, and unique circumstances. I strive to provide care that is personalized, respectful, and focused on each individual's goals. My approach is grounded in active listening, open communication, and shared decision-making. I believe the strongest treatment plans are developed through partnership, where clients feel empowered to ask questions, express concerns, and participate in decisions about their care. Whether managing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma-related conditions, or other mental health concerns, I tailor treatment to meet each person's specific needs. What sets my practice apart is my commitment to creating a welcoming, judgment-free environment where clients feel safe, heard, and valued. I focus not only on symptom management but also on promoting long-term wellness, resilience, and meaningful improvements in quality of life. By combining clinical expertise with genuine compassion, I aim to build trusting relationships that support lasting recovery and positive outcomes.
Ideal clients
I work with adults who are seeking compassionate, evidence-based mental health care and are ready to take an active role in improving their emotional well-being. Whether you are seeking support for the first time or continuing your mental health journey, I provide a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard and supported. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma-related concerns, stress, grief, life transitions, sleep difficulties, ADHD, and other mental health challenges. Many of my clients are balancing the demands of work, family, caregiving, or other responsibilities while navigating emotional or psychological difficulties that affect their daily lives. My approach is collaborative and individualized. Together, we will develop a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs, goals, and values. Whether your care includes psychiatric evaluation, medication management, supportive therapy, or education, my goal is to help you gain insight, build resilience, manage symptoms effectively, and improve your overall quality of life.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to help clients recognize and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. By developing healthier coping strategies and practical skills, clients can improve their mood, build resilience, and achieve their treatment goals.
