What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session is an important one! It’s called an intake session, and the goal is for me to get to know you, understand your concerns, and start building a comfortable space where you feel supported. During this appointment, we’ll: Go Over Your Intake Forms: We’ll briefly review the forms you’ve filled out before the session, such as your medical history, background, and any specific issues you’d like to focus on. This helps me get a clearer picture of your experiences. Talk About What Brings You to Therapy: This part is a conversation where you can share your reasons for seeking therapy. You can talk about any concerns, feelings, or goals that you have. It’s okay if you’re not sure where to start — I’ll guide the discussion. Set Goals Together: We’ll discuss what you’re hoping to achieve from therapy and outline some goals that will help us track your progress. Answer Any Questions You Have: Whether it's about how therapy works, the process, or anything you’re curious or unsure about, feel free to ask! I’m here to make sure you feel comfortable and informed. The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and set a solid foundation for your therapy journey. It’s natural to feel a bit nervous, but I’m here to support you every step of the way. Looking forward to our time together!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a therapist, my approach blends strong clinical assessment skills with the ability to formulate personalized treatment plans that guide your progress. I believe in being direct and clear in my communication, which helps us stay focused on your goals while ensuring you always know what to expect. At the same time, I approach each session with deep empathy, creating a space where you feel genuinely heard and understood. This balance of compassion and clarity allows us to work together effectively as you move toward healing and growth.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

With ACT, I work on helping clients accept their thoughts and feelings rather than avoiding or struggling with them. I encourage clients to connect with their core values and to take meaningful actions aligned with those values, even in the face of emotional discomfort. Mindfulness plays a big role here, as I guide clients to become more psychologically flexible, helping them live a life that’s more in line with their values rather than being driven by the need to eliminate distress.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

When using CBT, I focus on helping clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns that lead to distress and problematic behaviors. I work with them to recognize cognitive distortions like overgeneralizing or catastrophizing, and then guide them through restructuring those thoughts. By assigning homework and teaching practical problem-solving skills, I encourage clients to practice new behaviors and thought processes between sessions. CBT is goal-oriented, so I regularly assess progress and help clients achieve lasting changes in how they think and behave.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

In my practice, I use Cognitive Processing Therapy to help clients work through traumatic experiences by examining and challenging unhelpful beliefs related to the trauma. I guide clients in identifying "stuck points"—maladaptive thoughts that keep them from healing—and help them reframe these beliefs through structured writing exercises and cognitive restructuring techniques. The goal is to shift their perspective on the trauma and reduce symptoms of PTSD. I encourage clients to explore how the trauma has impacted their thoughts about safety, trust, power, and self-worth, while providing tools to develop healthier, more balanced beliefs.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

In my practice, I use DBT to help clients navigate intense emotions and improve their interpersonal skills. I focus on teaching mindfulness to keep clients grounded in the present moment while also working on emotional regulation. By validating their feelings and gently challenging harmful behaviors, I guide them toward healthier coping strategies. I give clients a chance to practice the skills they've learned in a supportive environment while also addressing their unique needs in session.
