Alexis Chapman
Hi, I'm Alexis Chapman, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to helping children, adolescents, and adults navigate life's challenges with compassion and evidence-based care. I believe that mental health treatment is a partnership, and I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered. My approach combines thoughtful medication management with education and collaboration, ensuring that every treatment plan is personalized to your unique goals and needs. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma, or other mental health concerns, I focus on treating the whole person, not just the diagnosis. I understand that reaching out for help can be difficult, and my goal is to make the process as comfortable and supportive as possible. Together, we'll work toward improving your symptoms, building resilience, and helping you live a healthier, more fulfilling life.
First session
Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and develop a clear understanding of your concerns and goals. We'll discuss your current symptoms, medical and mental health history, previous treatments, medications, lifestyle, and any questions you may have. Together, we'll create a personalized treatment plan that may include medication management, recommendations for therapy, lifestyle strategies, or additional resources. My goal is to provide a supportive, judgment-free environment where you feel comfortable sharing your experiences. By the end of the visit, you'll have a better understanding of your diagnosis, treatment options, and the next steps in your care.
Strengths
I believe the best mental health care is collaborative, compassionate, and personalized. I take the time to truly listen and understand each person's story rather than focusing only on symptoms or diagnoses. My goal is to ensure you feel heard, respected, and involved in every treatment decision. With experience caring for children, adolescents, and adults across outpatient, inpatient, and crisis settings, I understand that mental health needs can look different at every stage of life. I combine evidence-based medication management with practical education, helping you understand your diagnosis, treatment options, and the "why" behind each recommendation. I also recognize the importance of therapy, lifestyle changes, and a strong support system in achieving lasting wellness. Together, we'll develop a treatment plan that fits your goals and helps you build long-term stability and confidence.
Ideal clients
I work with adolescents and adults experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns, from anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and mood disorders to more complex psychiatric conditions. I have experience caring for individuals with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, schizoaffective disorder, treatment resistant depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), personality disorders, substance use disorders, and co-occurring mental health conditions. I also work with clients navigating autism spectrum disorder, emotional dysregulation, behavioral concerns, and complicated diagnostic presentations. Whether you are seeking diagnostic clarification, medication management, or long-term support, I strive to provide evidence-based, collaborative care that helps improve symptoms, restore functioning, and support meaningful, lasting progress.
Treatment methods
Supportive
Supportive therapy is incorporated into medication management visits to help clients process current stressors, strengthen healthy coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and reinforce progress toward treatment goals. Sessions focus on providing encouragement, validation, problem solving, psychoeducation, and practical strategies to manage symptoms while building resilience and supporting overall functioning. This approach complements medication treatment by addressing the emotional, behavioral, and interpersonal challenges that can affect recovery and long-term wellness.
