Kim Darnell
I have a passion for working with individuals struggling with symptoms of depression, anxiety, ADHD and the transitions of life. I find it an honor and privilege to sit in some of the most difficult spaces with my clients as we build trust and rapport and clients develop skills to improve their overall well-being.
First session
I would hope that after the first time my client meets with me that they find a sense of belonging, hope and a clear path forward that empowers them to explore their future with curiosity and courage.
Strengths
I have a variety of personal experiences and life events that help me relate to and sit in uncomfortable places with clients. Loss, big moves, living with a spouse and children with ADHD, supporting family with chronic illness, transitioning to "empty nesters" and many more. My therapeutic experience working in a homecare setting, integrated care, care coordination, PHP/IOP programs and leading both group and individual therapy sessions have provided me with a wealth of knowledge, experience and resources to walk clients through their therapeutic journey.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone that is looking for support as they navigate their therapeutic journey. They are interested in learning skills and tools to help with reducing their mental health symptoms and gaining a more clear understanding of mental health while finding the path forward to becoming the most authentic and best version of themselves. They are willing to be pushed, challenged and empowered.
Treatment methods
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use this treatment method in practice by integrating individual psychotherapy, skills and coaching to balance acceptance and behavioral change.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I am a big believer that our thoughts have the power to affect our feelings and our actions.
