New to Grow
I am Dr. Pilgrim aka Rev. Dr. Mama Chanda. Rev. because I have been ordained, Dr. because I have my doctorate, and Mama because I often lead with a mother's nurturance. I will not push my ideology on anyone, but it is the framework upon which I see the world. I do believe that each of you looks at the world through the filters of your past experiences, and that makes your challenges only yours. I will teach you the whys about how our mind works and help you make connections between your thoughts and feelings.
Our first session is a get-to-know-you session. I do have to gather some information but I want to know you... the real you everything from childhood until now. Why, you may ask, because as I said above, you are a unique individual, and any assistance and guidance I give has to be specifically designed for you.
I have been told that my superpower is truly seeing my clients, even virtually. I notice any changes in your breathing and/or emotions and I bring that to your attention. I model breathing or other grounding techniques. I have also been told that I have a very soothing voice, which, combined with being seen, makes the clients feel safe and loved. I truly love all my clients and it shows in the work that we will do together.
My ideal client is someone who faces life challenges, whether due to trauma or overwhelming emotions, and is passionate about making a change. If they want to heal and don't know how to get there, that is where I want to meet them. I attract and like clients who are spiritual and not necessarily religious. Most of my clients have depression.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
One of my biggest strengths is assisting my client in seeing the view of others and reframing thoughts that are heavy.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I believe that the client needs to feel unconditionally supported. I allow the client to lead the session because they know what it is that is important to them that day.
Eclectic
I believe that all clients are unique and the method of treatment is going to vary depending on their personal situation.
