Shannon Liebel
I earned my MA in Clinical Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado in 2008 and have dedicated my career to supporting others in their journeys toward healing, growth, and self-discovery. Alongside my work as a therapist, I own Still Water Yoga & Wellness in Bend, Oregon, a community I’ve nurtured around the belief that healing can take many forms and that we all deserve a space where we feel welcomed, supported, and accepted as we are. My background in counseling, yoga, mindfulness, and somatic practices has shaped my understanding of the deep connection between our minds, bodies, and lived experiences. I believe that healing isn’t about fixing what is broken, but about developing a deeper understanding of ourselves, reconnecting with our inner wisdom, and creating space for meaningful change.
Helping you reconnect with yourself, heal from the past, navigate life’s transitions, and create a more balanced, fulfilling life through compassionate, holistic, and somatic therapy.
First session
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a foundation of trust. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, what you’re hoping to work toward, and what support might feel most helpful to you right now. You’re welcome to share at your own pace; there’s no expectation to have everything figured out or to tell your whole story in one session. I’ll invite you to share what feels important while making space for your questions, concerns, and hopes for our work together. We’ll begin exploring your strengths and the goals you’d like to focus on, while also discussing how we can work collaboratively to support your needs. My approach is warm, curious, and nonjudgmental, and I want you to feel comfortable being yourself. If it feels like a good fit, we may also begin exploring how mindfulness and body awareness can support your healing. Most importantly, I want you to leave our first session feeling heard, respected, and hopeful about the possibility of change. Therapy is a process we navigate together, one step at a time.
Strengths
My therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and client-centered. I believe therapy is most meaningful when you feel seen, heard, and supported as you are. I meet each person where they are and tailor our work to their unique needs, experiences, and goals. Together, we create a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore emotions, deepen self-understanding, and reconnect with your inner strengths and potential. I believe in the connection between mind, body, and soul, and when it feels right for you, I incorporate mindfulness and somatic (body-based) practices to support healing, self-awareness, and a greater sense of connection with yourself.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are individuals who are navigating life transitions, struggling with anxiety or depression, processing trauma or grief, or seeking a deeper understanding of how their childhood experiences have shaped who they are today. I enjoy working with people who are curious about themselves, open to personal growth, and interested in creating meaningful, lasting change. I am especially passionate about helping clients explore the mind-body connection, understand their nervous systems, and develop greater emotional regulation through somatic practices and increased body awareness. Whether you are working through a difficult chapter, healing from the past, or simply wanting to feel more connected to yourself, therapy can be a space to explore, grow, and discover new possibilities.
Treatment methods
Somatic
Somatic therapy helps you reconnect with your body and understand how stress, emotions, and past experiences can affect the way you feel. By gently working with the mind-body connection, I will give guidance and help teach you how regulate your nervous system, release patterns of tension, and develop a greater sense of calm, safety, and balance. We will work together to help you move beyond simply talking about what you’re experiencing and begin to feel better from the inside out.
