Chidinma Okwueze

PMHNP1 year of experience

Hello, I'm Chidinma Okwueze, PMHNP-BC, a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Co-Founder of Fortified Minds PLLC. I believe everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and supported, no matter where they are in their mental health journey. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming, and judgment free space where you can openly share your experiences and feel comfortable working toward meaningful change. I take a compassionate, collaborative approach to care, recognizing that no two people are alike. Together, we'll develop a personalized treatment plan that may include medication management, supportive therapy, education, and practical strategies tailored to your unique needs and goals. Whether you're struggling with ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, or life's everyday challenges, I'm committed to helping you build resilience, improve your wellbeing, and regain confidence in yourself. Patients often describe me as approachable, caring, and attentive. I take the time to truly listen because I believe the best care begins with understanding your story. My hope is that you'll leave each visit feeling supported, empowered, and confident that you have a partner who genuinely cares about your success and long-term mental wellness.

First session

Your first appointment is all about getting to know you. We'll spend time discussing what brought you to treatment, your current concerns, your personal and medical history, and how your symptoms may be affecting your daily life, relationships, work, or school. This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, share your goals, and talk about what you hope to achieve through treatment. Together, we'll complete a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and develop a personalized treatment plan based on your unique needs. If medication is appropriate, we'll discuss the potential benefits, risks, and available options so you can make informed decisions about your care. My goal is for you to leave your first session feeling heard, understood, and confident that we have a clear plan to help you move forward on your mental health journey.

Strengths

I believe the strongest therapeutic relationships are built on trust, compassion, and honest communication. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself—without fear of judgment. I listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and work alongside you to understand not only your symptoms but also the experiences, strengths, and values that make you who you are. My approach is supportive and collaborative, but I'm also honest and direct when needed. I'll meet you where you are, while gently challenging unhelpful patterns, negative self beliefs, or behaviors that may be keeping you from reaching your goals. I believe real growth happens when you feel both supported and encouraged to make meaningful changes. My experience caring for individuals from diverse backgrounds and across a wide range of mental health conditions has taught me that every person's journey is unique. There is no one size fits all approach to healing. Whether you're facing ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, or major life transitions, I'll tailor treatment to your individual needs using evidence based care, medication management when appropriate, and practical strategies you can apply in everyday life. Above all, I want my patients to leave each session feeling heard, respected, empowered, and hopeful. My role is not simply to prescribe medication—it's to partner with you, celebrate your progress, help you navigate setbacks, and support you in building lasting emotional wellness.

Ideal clients

I enjoy working with adults who are ready to take an active role in improving their mental health. My ideal clients may be struggling with ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, mood disorders, stress, or life transitions, and are looking for a provider who will truly listen, provide evidence based guidance, and partner with them to develop a treatment plan that fits their unique needs and goals. Whether you're seeking support for the first time or have tried treatment before, you're welcome here. I work well with individuals who value open communication, are curious about understanding themselves better, and are willing to make gradual, meaningful changes. Together, we'll focus on reducing symptoms, building resilience, developing healthy coping strategies, and helping you feel more confident, balanced, and in control of your life.

Treatment methods

Interpersonal

Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) focuses on how your relationships and life experiences affect your emotional well being. Sometimes anxiety, depression, or stress can be linked to challenges such as relationship conflicts, grief, major life changes, work stress, or feeling disconnected from others. In our sessions, we'll talk about what's happening in your life right now and how those experiences may be affecting your thoughts, emotions, and daily functioning. Together, we'll identify patterns that may be contributing to your distress and develop healthier ways to communicate, set boundaries, navigate conflict, and strengthen your relationships. My goal is to help you feel more confident in your interactions with others while improving your overall emotional health. I use Interpersonal Therapy as part of a personalized treatment plan, combining practical problem solving with compassionate support to help you build stronger relationships and develop skills that create lasting positive change.
