New to Grow
I became a therapist because I've always wanted to help people grow through the challenges and obstacles in their lives. I combine a holistic, strengths-based approach when working with clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, college adjustment, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, grief/loss, pet loss, and trauma. I believe that there is nothing more empowering than discovering your inner strength and developing the courage to work through life's most difficult moments. Before I received my MSW in Social Work, I became a Certified Hatha Yoga Instructor and Yoga Therapist. I also received my Bachelor's Degree in Creative Studies and writing. I enjoy working with clients who are open to both traditional modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Somatic practices that support and help regulate the body's response to stress and dysregulation by incorporating breathwork, meditation, yoga, and mindfulness skills. I have always been drawn to the healing arts and the introspective work that can be found through psychotherapy, creative arts, writing/journaling, and yoga. I have been learning and engaging in these practices since 1998. It has been a lifelong passion of mine to bring these therapeutic modalities together to support the whole person so that my clients can discover their personal path to healing and live a more balanced, peaceful life.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
My sessions are warm and inviting so that you can feel safe and comfortable opening up about your life and what your goals are. It's okay if you don't have it all figured out. It takes time to unpack and process what you've been going through, and we will explore that together.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My approach to therapy is holistic, and I'm excited to be able to support clients on their healing journey by incorporating breathwork, meditation, and movement into our sessions so that they can slowly release the physical impact of stress that often gets stuck in the body. My goal will always be to meet you where you are and to support you on your journey.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
Life's challenges can sometimes become overwhelming, and seeking support is a courageous step toward achieving balance and well-being. I am dedicated to providing a safe and compassionate space to explore your thoughts and emotions, gain valuable insights, and develop the tools needed to navigate life's complexities. Whether you're dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, or facing relationship issues, I will be here to support you on your journey to personal growth and emotional healing. I look forward to helping you discover your inner resilience and potential for positive change.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to help clients identify, challenge and replace negative thought patterns and maladaptive behaviors. Focusing on your current issues, I will use techniques like cognitive restructuring, behavioral activation, and homework assignments to help improve symptoms of anxiety and depression. I will work collaboratively with you to identify specific problems so that we can establish concrete goals.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I utilize DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) to help clients manage intense emotions and to build a life worth living by balancing acceptance of oneself with techniques for change. DBT integrates mindfulness skills, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness. The core philosophy is to combine "dialectics" (opposites) to allow acceptance of emotions as they are in the moment while working to change unhealthy or unwanted behaviors.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I use mindfulness skills to help train clients to focus on the present moment, observing thoughts and feelings without judgment to help break cycles of stress, anxiety, and depression. It combines cognitive techniques with meditation to foster emotional regulation, increase self-awareness, and reduce reactivity to negative emotions.
