Hi there, my name is Kim. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Texas. I provide psychotherapy to individuals who find themselves in the midst of struggling with their mental or emotional health. I have 8 years of experience in the field of social work and over 4 years in providing psychotherapy. My experience is diverse as I have worked in many settings to include: crisis care, private practice, inpatient psychiatric care and in outpatient treatment for a community mental health center. In those settings I have continued to fine tune my skills as a clinician to best serve my clients in finding relief from their symptoms and ultimately learn skills that allow my clients to thrive.
First and foremost, you can expect validation of the recent experiences of yours that have led you to seek treatment. You and I will collaborate in creating a plan of action to address your needs while going at your own pace. We will initially review what areas you would like to improve and we will identify ways this can be achieved through our work together.
My greatest strengths as a provider are being compassionate, empathic and transparent. I am helpful to my clients in assisting them to identify their own strengths which can be used to work towards the goals we have set. The feedback I continue to receive, as well as the progress that I have observed repeatedly with individuals I have worked with, is what continues to fuel my appreciation for the work I do.
As mentioned before, I have worked in many settings that has exposed me to a great range of clients from all walks of life. The majority of the clients I have most recently worked with would be individuals who are struggling with mood disorders such as depression or bipolar disorder, individuals who are experiencing suicidal thoughts or have engaged in self-harming behaviors, and individuals who are experiencing anxiety at levels that are disrupting daily life. Additionally, a great amount of the clients I work with are experiencing symptoms of or have an official diagnosis of PTSD. These are clients with whom I have seen significant relief after our sessions.
EMDR
I will use EMDR in our sessions to help you process trauma in a way that is more advanced than talk therapy. It includes bilateral stimulation and resourcing which I am more than happy to elaborate on in our initial session.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I will use cognitive behavioral therapy to help you treat your symptoms of anxiety and/or depression by exploring the thoughts leading to increased feelings of distress. Together, with CBT, we can identify alternative helpful thoughts to relieve some of the symptoms as well as identify increasingly helpful coping skills.
