LCSW, 5 years of experience
New to Grow
Hello! My name is Jennifer Lewis, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have lived in the Wabash Valley all my life and have spent the last 10 years working in social services and behavioral health. I am a graduate of the Indiana State University Master of Social Work (MSW) program with an undergraduate degree in Paralegal Studies from Saint-Mary-of-the Woods College. I enjoy gardening, spending time with family and friends, and being outdoors.
During our first session, we will take time to get to know one another so you can begin to feel comfortable in the therapy space. We will discuss expectations regarding sessions, treatment, and the therapy/client relationship. During our time together I will ask you questions to get to know you and determine what your needs/issues/problems are and discuss how you would like to work together to meet those needs. Therapy is a collaborative journey. Our sessions are a safe and compassionate space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. We will work together to help you build resilience, feel empowered, and develop healthy ways to navigate life's challenges. I utilize evidence-based approaches and tailor them to your unique needs, ensuring our work together is effective and meaningful for you.
My experiences have taught me that each person's story is unique and deserves to be honored. As a therapist, I provide a holistic, personal, and empathic space where you can feel seen, heard, and understood without judgment. Your experiences, strengths, and needs are at the core of our work together.
I specialize in a variety of concerns, including trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and life transitions. Whether you are struggling with past experiences, overwhelming emotions, or navigating changes in your life, I am here to support you.
I have used Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for a number of years and have helped clients restructure their thinking patterns, decrease symptoms, and gain resilience in dealing with the difficulties that life can bring. We will examine how your beliefs have impacted your thoughts and feelings and work on restructuring them to decrease your symptoms. We will identify ways of coping that meet your needs and help you manage difficult feelings.
I have used this therapeutic approach with clients for some time. My goal is to create a safe space where clients can feel validated and empowered. We will work collaboratively to create goals and build resilience identifying new skills to help you cope with difficult feelings and situations that cause you to feel "stuck" in your trauma.
I have used Solution-Focused Brief Treatment with a number of clients. During our sessions we will identify solutions instead of focusing on the past. My goal is to highlight your strengths and help you feel empowered to create your own solutions.
In my sessions with clients I use a person-centered or client-centered approach. My goal in therapy is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you have the opportunity to process your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, and gain insight into solutions to promote growth and become your authentic self.
