Sebastian Stubbs

LPC20 years of experience

My name is Sebastian Stubbs, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and the founder of S&K Professionals Counseling Services in Macon, Georgia. I specialize in working with military families, trauma survivors, youth, and couples who are ready to move from simply enduring life to truly living it. My approach is compassionate, evidence-based, and faith-informed — because I believe healing is most powerful when it honors the whole person. As a published author and speaker, I am also passionate about carrying a message of resilience and hope beyond the counseling room. If you are still standing after everything you've been through, I would be honored to walk alongside you on the next part of your journey.

First session

Your First Session with Sebastian First and foremost — welcome. Taking that first step to reach out takes courage, and I want you to know that you are in a safe, judgment-free space from the moment you walk through the door. Your first session is not about having all the answers or knowing exactly what to say. It is simply about us getting to know each other. Here is what you can expect: We will take it at your pace. There is no pressure to share more than you are comfortable with. My goal in our first meeting is to listen — really listen — to your story, your concerns, and what brought you here. We will talk about what you are hoping for. Together we will begin to explore what you would like to get out of therapy. Whether you have a clear goal or just a feeling that something needs to change, that is enough to start. I will ask some questions. To best understand your background and your needs, I will ask about your history, your current challenges, and what life looks like for you right now. These questions are meant to help me serve you better — not to judge or evaluate you. We will begin to build a plan together. By the end of our first session, you will have a clearer sense of what our work together might look like and what next steps make sense for you. You will leave feeling heard. More than anything, my commitment to you in that first hour is that you will walk out feeling seen, respected, and hopeful — not overwhelmed. There is no perfect way to start therapy. You just have to show up — and you have already done that by being here.

Ideal clients

I best serve individuals who have been through something hard — trauma, loss, adversity, or life-altering transitions and are still here, still fighting, but need support to make sense of it all. These are people who haven't given up, but feel the weight of everything they've carried. Your own story of endurance gives you a unique ability to sit with them in that space authentically.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

1. Identify the Problem Start by helping the client clearly define what they're struggling with — anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, trauma responses, etc. 2. Explore the Thought Patterns Help clients recognize automatic negative thoughts (ANTs) — the unhelpful thoughts that pop up without them even realizing it. Common examples include all-or-nothing thinking, catastrophizing, and self-blame. 3. Challenge the Thoughts Ask questions like: "What evidence supports this thought?" "What would you tell a friend who had this same thought?" "Is there another way to look at this situation?" 4. Replace with Balanced Thinking Work with the client to develop more realistic, balanced thoughts — not toxic positivity, but honest reframing. 5. Behavioral Activation Assign between-session activities — journaling, thought records, or small behavioral experiments — to reinforce what's being worked on in session.
