Welcome in, and thank you for stopping by! If you're looking for a holistic psychiatric provider, look no further. I’m a seasoned and intuitive psychiatric nurse practitioner who cares for Arizona adults who have little to no experience (or even a 'bad' experience) with previous psychiatric meds & treatment. I love integrative psychiatry because it offers a lot more than standard prescription meds and psychotherapy...like functional testing, nutraceuticals, and experiential therapies!
Many people tell me they hesitate scheduling a psych eval because they aren't sure what to expect...or assume it means they need meds. The eval is a conversation that allows me to get to know you: what’s going well, what problems you’re facing, and when they started. We review your history (social, medical, family, etc) and then shift focus to diagnosis and treatment options. This is where you make decisions about YOUR treatment plan. Finally, I answer your questions and review policies (how to schedule, sign forms, what to do in a crisis).
My secret sauce? First, I spend time really getting to know you during your 2-hour psych eval. If we get to the bottom of what is going on, it's easier to treat an underlying disorder than if we're playing symptom-whack-a-mole. Second, I’m an INFJ…the world’s rarest personality type! As a client, you’ll reap the benefits of having access to the most non-judgmental, intuitive, and creative healer. Clients often tell me: "I felt heard", "I feel hopeful", "I feel confident". Even after the very first session!
I help adults with anxiety, panic, anger, and mood instability worry less, improve their mood, and more effectively engage in their careers and relationships through holistic treatment plans that include functional analysis, experiential therapies and management of medications and nutraceuticals.
Psychodynamic therapy is really useful for learning how to set boundaries with others. We first examine your current patterns and what is (or isn't) serving you well, explore why you relate to others the way you do, and break down your goals into attainable steps. You'll learn how to say no, speak more assertively, and set limits... without all the guilt!
Psychoed is something that's automatically built into your sessions! You've probably heard the saying "With knowledge comes power", and it's true! I'm simply the navigator sitting shotgun in your car, giving you information about your mental health diagnoses, your medication and therapy options, med safety, and how to best take care of (and protect) yourself. YOU are behind the wheel, and having all that knowledge allows you to go exactly where YOU want.
We all have strengths, even when we're feeling our worst or not performing at our best. Those strengths can help you dig deep and be more resourceful than you ever thought possible. Reframing allows you to really pivot, and consider alternatives to your previous ways of thinking.
There are many different types of experiential therapy. Some of the ones we use (or provide referrals to) include KAT (ketamine-assisted therapy), equine therapy, group therapy, ropes courses, light therapy, rage rooms, and art therapy,
