New to Grow
Hello! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor passionate about helping adults navigate life’s challenges and deepen their understanding of themselves. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, life transitions, self-esteem issues, and challenges related to intimacy and sexuality. I believe healing is about more than reducing symptoms; it’s about creating a life that feels authentic, fulfilling, and aligned with who you truly are. My goal is to provide a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where you feel safe exploring difficult emotions, patterns, and experiences at your own pace. As a Black woman, I understand the importance of feeling seen and understood, and I strive to create an inclusive environment where people from all backgrounds feel welcomed and respected. I integrate evidence-based approaches with genuine curiosity and compassion, recognizing that each person’s story is unique. Whether you’re working through unresolved trauma, struggling in relationships, questioning your self-worth, or seeking greater confidence and connection, I am here to support you. Together, we’ll identify your strengths, increase self-awareness, and develop practical tools that help you move toward lasting change, not just temporary relief.
Starting therapy can feel exciting, overwhelming, or somewhere in between. During our first session, my priority is creating a space where you feel comfortable enough to begin telling your story without pressure or judgment. We’ll spend time getting to know one another. I’ll ask about what brought you to therapy, the challenges you’re currently experiencing, your personal history, important relationships, and what you hope to gain from our work together. You’re welcome to share as much or as little as you feel ready to discuss. Therapy is a process, and there is no expectation that everything has to be unpacked in one session. We’ll also talk about your strengths, coping strategies, and the areas of your life that are already working well. I believe understanding both your struggles and your resilience helps us build a treatment plan that feels realistic and meaningful. By the end of our first session, we’ll begin identifying goals for therapy and discuss what our work together may look like moving forward. I’ll answer any questions you have about the therapy process, and together we’ll decide on a pace that feels comfortable for you. My hope is that you leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and with a clearer sense of how therapy can support your personal growth and healing.
I believe one of the greatest strengths I bring to therapy is my ability to create a space where clients feel genuinely seen, accepted, and understood. Opening up about painful experiences, relationship struggles, trauma, or concerns related to intimacy can feel incredibly vulnerable. My goal is to foster a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you can show up as your authentic self without fear of criticism or shame. My approach is rooted in curiosity, collaboration, and compassion. Rather than focusing solely on managing symptoms, I believe lasting change comes from understanding the experiences, beliefs, and patterns that have shaped who you are. Together, we’ll explore how your past influences your present and identify practical strategies to support meaningful growth and healing. I strive to balance empathy with accountability. Therapy is not about telling you what to do; it’s about helping you gain insight, recognize your strengths, and feel empowered to make choices that align with the life you want to create. I will support you through difficult moments while gently challenging patterns, beliefs, or behaviors that may no longer serve you. Because I recognize that every person’s story is unique, I tailor therapy to your individual needs, values, and goals. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, self-esteem, life transitions, or exploring issues related to sexuality and intimacy, our work together will be collaborative and personalized. What makes my approach unique is my commitment to helping clients move beyond simply surviving. I want to help you better understand yourself, strengthen your relationships, build confidence in your decisions, and create a life that feels authentic, fulfilling, and aligned with your values. My hope is that therapy becomes a place where you not only find relief from current challenges but also develop the insight and tools needed to experience lasting change long after our sessions end.
My ideal client is someone who is ready to better understand themselves and create meaningful change, even if they’re not quite sure where to begin. They may feel stuck in recurring patterns, struggle with anxiety or self-doubt, find themselves repeating unhealthy relationship dynamics, or carry the weight of past experiences that continue to impact their present. Many of the clients I enjoy working with are navigating life transitions, healing from trauma, working through relationship concerns, exploring intimacy and sexuality, or learning how to build healthier boundaries and a stronger sense of self. They may be grieving not only the loss of people, but also the loss of the life, relationship, or future they once imagined for themselves. My ideal client doesn’t need to have everything figured out. They simply need to be willing to show up with openness and a desire to grow. Together, we’ll explore the patterns that have shaped your experiences, strengthen your resilience, and help you build a life that feels more authentic, connected, and aligned with your values.
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
One approach I use is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT. CBT helps us examine the connections among our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Sometimes the way we think about situations can keep us feeling stuck or overwhelmed. Together, we'll identify unhelpful patterns, challenge thoughts that aren't serving you, and develop healthier ways of thinking and responding. It's a practical, goal-oriented approach that often includes skills you can use between sessions.
Couples Counseling
In couples therapy, my role isn't to take sides or decide who's right or wrong. Instead, I help both partners understand each other's experiences, improve communication, resolve conflicts more effectively, and strengthen the relationship. We'll work together to identify patterns that may be creating distance or tension and build healthier ways of connecting.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Solution-Focused Therapy focuses on your strengths and what is already working in your life. Rather than spending all of our time on the problem itself, we'll identify your goals, explore times when the problem is less intense, and build on the skills and resources you already have. It's a collaborative approach that helps create practical, achievable steps toward the changes you want to see.
Sex Therapy
Sex therapy provides a safe, nonjudgmental space to talk about concerns related to intimacy, sexual health, desire, communication, sexual functioning, relationships, or overall sexual well-being. We may also explore how your personal identity, including aspects such as gender, sexual orientation, culture, values, or life experiences, shapes your relationship with yourself and others. For some people, past trauma or difficult experiences can also impact intimacy, trust, or sexuality. When appropriate, we'll work to process those experiences at a pace that feels safe, helping reduce their impact while building healthier patterns of connection. Sex therapy is talk therapy only. My goal is to help you better understand your experiences, strengthen your relationships, and support a more fulfilling and authentic sense of sexual well-being.
