Dee Foll
I am a board-certified licensed professional counselor, a state certified advanced drug & alcohol counselor and a registered art therapist with the American Art Therapy Association. I am also a fully trained EMDR therapist who holds certifications in trauma, cognitive behavioral therapy and grief and loss. I have experience working with persons with addictions, trauma, depression, anxiety, and a range of diagnoses. I also have experience working in a variety of settings including a youth placement facility, a drug & alcohol office setting, private practice and a county correctional facility. I take a caring and compassionate approach as I work to support my clients in overcoming life’s obstacles that prevent them from living their best life. I enjoy collaborating with clients to individualize and personalize treatment goals, to work together to achieve the positive changes they seek.
First session
In our first session we can get to know each other and you can share what brought you into counseling. You are free to ask me questions if you have any and we will begin our collaboration of working together to help you meet your goals.
Strengths
I have about 20 years experience with a variety of populations. I see us as a collaborative working together to meet your goals. I use EMDR as a trauma therapy which I have seen great results with. I have an open mind when working with clients and will meet your needs the best that I can. I am compassionate and caring in my approach.
Ideal clients
My ideal client would be one who genuinely seeks to improve the quality of their life and will openly participate in sessions. She/he would be willing to try a new therapy such as EMDR or others. This client would be forthcoming with information even if that happened over some time. This client would be open with working as a collaborative to help them achieve their goals.
Treatment methods
EMDR
I use Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing as a means to help a client resolve trauma that they have experienced. This is a type of treatment that allows a person to resolve trauma without having to talk about the trauma.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I use ACT therapy as a means of managing thought processes and emotional states. This therapy helps a client to expand their way of thinking and accept what they are experiencing.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help someone recognize and change distorted perceptions. This method usually involves homework between sessions.
Motivational Interviewing
I use MI to assist a client in recognizing their thought patterns and what is guiding their behaviors patterns as well as to assist them in resolving internal conflict.
