New to Grow
Hi, I’m Perry (he/him) and I have over 12 years of experience supporting individuals, youth and families including extensive work in private practice, outpatient counseling, child welfare and schools. I have worked as a licensed therapist for over 5 years. I currently operate a telehealth based private practice called Clear Mind Counseling PLLC. I provide telehealth throughout Florida, Minnesota and Missouri ensuring that even rural and underserved communities can access the care they need.
During your first session we will find out what you would like to accomplish in therapy and work on creating an actionable roadmap. We'll gather information about your background and your current challenges, and I will provide insights or recommendations for the next session. Most importantly, though, I'll aim to make sure that you feel welcomed, heard and empowered after the first session.
My approach is rooted in compassion and practical feedback, aiming to help you move past cycles of anxiety, depression, self-criticism and hopelessness. I help clients to improve their coping skills, to challenge self-limiting beliefs, and to achieve peace of mind. Whether you're navigating a time of worry and stress, a relationship challenge, or a major life transition, I’m here to help you spend less time in your head and more time living your life.
These are the types of clients who often contact me: new to therapy clients, young professionals, BIPOC men and women, adolescents and college students, Black/African American clients, millennial and gen z clients, and clients preferring a male therapist. Clients who are dealing with anxiety, stress, social anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, family issues and career/financial challenges are likely to reach out.
Other specialties
I identify as
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I use ACT to encourage clients to embrace their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling guilty for them. Clients learn to view their mind as a tool that can be used to their advantage (or disadvantage) by becoming more aware of their own thoughts and practicing mindfulness. ACT helps clients to learn to live according to their values and using these values to guide their actions and goals.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help clients understand and recognize that they can think, feel and react differently to situations and problems. CBT is particularly helpful for my clients experiencing anxiety, depression, panic attacks, phobias or social anxiety.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I use this approach to partner with clients and to see their problems and unique situations from their perspective. With this approach I am always striving to be non-judgmental and accepting of each and every client.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I enjoy introducing mindfulness based techniques as I find that these practices help clients to remain grounded and in the present moment. Some of these techniques might include breathing exercises, mindful walking or grounding exercises. Mindfulness typically helps my clients to reduce feelings of stress and anxiety.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use this approach to help clients balance self-acceptance while encouraging change. With DBT, my clients are able to learn skills like clear communication, setting healthy boundaries, remaining in the present, identifying and modifying emotions, self-respect, and crisis management. These skills can help clients with regulating their emotions, being able to more effectively tolerate stress, and improve their interpersonal interactions.
