Do you feel you've been living just to get through the days? Or that your past experiences in life are holding you back from what you'd really like to be doing? I may be able to help. Coming to therapy can be one of the most difficult decisions one chooses to make. Whether it's your first time, fifth time, or transitioning from a long history with a previous therapist, change can be very hard. Feeling the right connection is an important building block of treatment success. I have worked in community mental health for over 10 years and have experience with a myriad of stressors including (not limited to) life transitions, relational problems, trauma (complex trauma), depression/anxiety, and grief. I believe in the power of change and healing at any age. Our early life experiences can shape how we view the world and how we see (or don't see) ourselves being able to move forward. Please consider contacting me for a free 15 minute consultation to ask any questions you may have.
During the first session, I meet you where you are at. I won't ask questions that you aren't comfortable answering. Coming to therapy is hard and courageous. I want to get to know you and why you are seeking services but I also want to know how you learn best, what you think your strengths are and what you bring to the table that will help me understand how the therapeutic relationship can be the most beneficial for you.
Trauma work has been one of my biggest areas of practice. With over 10 years of experience working with multiple forms of trauma, it is one of my passions and I am a Clinical Certified Trauma Professional. I am also a Certified Grief Informed Professional and have a special affinity in working with folks healing grief. My other areas of specialty include coping skills, stress management, self care and self acceptance, and skill building. I focus on what is bringing you to seek treatment. We all need a safe space for healing and I offer a warm environment dedicated to skill development that will help you achieve your personal goals. If you are looking for an experienced and attuned therapist please consider scheduling with me. You are so brave to be here right now. Being here now, puts you in a powerful position to take charge of your own mental health needs, kudos to you!
I firmly believe that we all need more self compassion in our lives. The way to cultivate compassion in our lives is by beginning with compassion towards ourselves. This treatment focus is essential in my work as therapist.
Identifying our core values helps us lead more determined, fulfilling and meaningful lives. When we are living in the present and committed to action and intention we are inherently doing our very best. When we take a closer look at how our lives can often be run on 'autopilot' mode - we stop and realize how damaging or hindering that can be for wholehearted living. By bringing attention to and not shying away from the harder stuff we see in ourselves we can then accept a willingness to move forward towards change.
By using an attachment lens I can help focus identify patterns of thought and behavior that may have formed early in our young years. These patterns are typically survivalist strategies to get us through but in the long term can be damaging if left unattended to or not properly taken care of. I seek to help folks weed out the unhelpful patterns and gain a sense of empowerment in shifting towards more helpful strategies.
