Chelsea Coughlin
Hi there! My name is Chelsea Coughlin and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I acquired my Masters in Social Work from Trinity College Dublin in 2019, and I also hold a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, a Bachelor of Arts in Interpersonal Communication, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Social Studies. I aim to create a supportive environment where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences at their own pace—without judgment. My work is grounded in compassion, curiosity, warmth, and respect for each person’s unique story, as you are the expert in your own life. I believe in holistic, integrative therapy, and I blend elements from various approaches throughout treatment, including Cognitive Based Therapy (CBT), Humanistic, Person-Centered, Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Whether you’re navigating anxiety, OCD, sadness, grief or loss, adjusting to a life transition, or seeking to reconnect with yourself, you are taking steps to honor your needs—I commend you, and I hope to support you in that process! In my spare time, I’m typically taking long walks with my husband, daughter and dog, Charlie, traveling, cooking, spending time with family and friends, listening to music, and binging the latest television show, both scripted and reality.
First session
Our work together begins with an introductory session where you are invited to share your story and what you hope to gain from therapy. This session helps us get to know each other and lays the foundation for a collaborative therapeutic process. We’ll also go over logistics like cancellation policy, scheduling and frequency. We’ll then talk through your goals and work together in sessions that follow to help make these goals a reality for you.
Strengths
I bring warmth, empathy, and a genuine curiosity to each session. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, understood, and comfortable showing up as they are. My approach is collaborative and compassionate, while also helping clients recognize patterns, gain new perspectives, and develop practical tools for navigating life's challenges. I believe meaningful growth happens when people feel supported, empowered, and understood.
Ideal clients
I love working with people who are curious about themselves and willing to lean into the sometimes uncomfortable, but rewarding, work of personal growth and introspection. I believe in creating a therapeutic space where vulnerability and meaningful self-reflection can coexist with humor, warmth, and genuine human connection. Whether you are going through a big life transition, interested in unlearning unhelpful patterns you've become stuck in, or seeking tangible tools and strategies to implement in your daily life, I hope to walk alongside you and provide empowerment.
