Atrevia Brown
I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care across the lifespan. I work collaboratively with clients to create individualized treatment plans that support emotional wellness, resilience, and long-term stability.
I believe in treating the whole person, not just symptoms, and I work collaboratively with each client to develop realistic, individualized treatment goals that fit their unique needs and lifestyle.
My approach combines medication management, supportive therapy, and patient education in a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered in their mental health journey.
First session
During your first session, we will spend time getting to know you and discussing what brings you in for care. I will ask questions about your current concerns, mental health history, medical history, lifestyle, stressors, and goals for treatment so I can gain a full understanding of your needs. This initial evaluation is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, share your experiences openly, and discuss any concerns you may have about treatment. Together, we will develop a personalized plan that may include medication management, supportive therapy, coping strategies, and recommendations for ongoing care to help you move toward improved mental wellness.
Strengths
My greatest strengths are my compassionate, patient-centered approach and my commitment to creating a supportive, judgment-free space where clients feel comfortable being themselves. I believe in treating the whole person, not just symptoms, and I work collaboratively with each client to develop realistic, individualized treatment goals that fit their unique needs and lifestyle. I combine evidence-based medication management with supportive therapy, education, and practical coping strategies to help clients gain insight, build resilience, and improve their overall quality of life. Clients often appreciate my ability to listen attentively, communicate openly, and provide care that is both empathetic and solution-focused. My goal is to help individuals feel empowered, understood, and supported throughout their mental health journey.
Ideal clients
I am best positioned to serve adolescent and adult clients experiencing mild to severe psychiatric conditions, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and mood instability, who are seeking a holistic, collaborative approach to mental wellness. My ideal clients are those who feel stuck in negative thought loops or overwhelmed by emotional distress, but are motivated to understand the connection between their biological symptoms and behavioral habits. They typically come to care with goals centered around gaining practical coping skills, reducing reliance on high-dose medications through therapeutic lifestyle changes, and reclaiming their daily functioning. By tailoring my practice to individuals who value a combined mind-body treatment plan, I help empowered clients actively partner in their own recovery.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Suicide Prevention (CBT-SP)
As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy into my practice by using targeted interventions during patient visits to connect thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Even within brief medication management sessions, I utilize Socratic questioning and behavioral activation to help patients identify and challenge cognitive distortions. By blending psychopharmacology with these evidence-based CBT techniques, I provide a holistic, collaborative approach that empowers patients to manage their symptoms and improve their daily functioning.
