The majority of my experience has been with children, teens, and young adults. I enjoy working with the youth of today to help secure a strong solid future for tomorrow. My counseling style is warm and accepting. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach combines cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and solution focused therapy. I have a strong appreciation for art and understand the power of art in therapy. I believe that through a strong therapeutic relationship change can occur. I will focus my energy in allowing you to feel heard, cared for, and understood. This will allow you to unlock your true desires and ideas for your next steps. Your future is yours and you will be the author of your story. My role is to help you to embrace your strengths, work with your weaknesses, and help you to reach your own goals. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!
During the first session I will gather background information from you. I will ask a lot of open ended questions and try to get a good snapshot of your history and daily life. We will talk about what brought you into therapy and what you would like for your goals of therapy to be.
My most effective quality is my true ability to offer empathy and understanding. I love to work with people and help them to feel better. I have often been told that my sense of calm in the storm is steadying and reassuring when you are working through what feels like everything crashing down. I love to be with my clients as they figure out their hopes and goals and make steps towards them.
I work to help you in solving your identified concerns through talking out what you would like for yourself and what is holding you back from reaching those goals.
I incorporate a focus on the family and your family of origin to help you to understand how your past experiences work to promote or prohibit your success in building and strengthening relationships.
I am a trained in CPP and understand child development and the importance of the caregiver providing a strong loving relationship bond with their child. This method uses play to help the child to process traumatic events.
I have a background in Christian counseling and will incorporate the spiritual aspect into therapy when requested. All therapy approaches consider the biological, psychological, and social aspects. Those interested in incorporating Christian counseling will also focus on the spiritual aspect of wellness.
This method is used my many therapist as well as myself. It is one of the most popular approaches in the US to therapy. This method considers thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and how they interplay with each other.
