Hello there, I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) based out of Northern California. I support folks from all walks of life to navigate the changing seasons of life. Whether you want to heal from childhood wounds, build compassion for yourself, improve your relationships, or figure out whats making you feel "stuck"- I will show up authentically and without judgment to be with you on that journey.
In our first session we will begin the process of examining where you are at now, and where you want to go in therapy. There is no need to recount or replay past trauma at this time. We will focus on your goals and your strengths that got you here.
Over the past 5 years of working as a therapist I find that my ability to show up in a warm, genuine way and reflect back your truth are my biggest strengths. Holding onto the innate worthiness of all people to be well in mind, body, and spirit I strive to always welcome all parts of my clients: the healthy, the messy, and the shadowy parts.
Victoria Bowers offers therapy covered by Central California Alliance for Health (Medi-Cal), Gold Coast Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Health Plan of San Joaquin - Medi-Cal, L.A. Care Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Orange County Mental Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Partnership HealthPlan of California (Medi-Cal) and San Francisco Health Plan (Medi-Cal) in California.
I often integrate DBT skills training into sessions to support client with all kinds of needs. I am also able to provide DBT therapy as needed. Balancing acceptance and change to honor all parts of your emotional self.
I use motivational interviewing to support you in moving in the direction of change based on your own goals, hopes, and dreams- at your own pace.
When utilizing a Person-centered approach I honor that you are the expert in your own life, you direct therapy. My role is to provide a warm, non-judgmental container where you can explore and better understand your spiritual and emotional world. Different from DBT this is a non-directive approach.
All of the interventions I use are based on a strengths first, trauma informed mentality. Using person affirming language, ensuring autonomy over your treatment, and creating an environment of emotional safety are top priorities.
