Welcome! I'm Alisha Do you find yourself attempting to dismiss negative thoughts or memories? Possibly avoiding situations, scenarios, and places that remind you of something not so great? Do these memories invoke some kind of negative belief about yourself that you know is not true? Do you desire to decrease the intensity of these memories, thoughts or experiences so they are no longer as intrusive and demanding of your attention? I empower those who are ready to address some of the things from the past or the present that may be presenting a mental and emotional weight on functioning, relationships, and overall well-being.
Our first session will consist of an intake and possibly some assessments. The intake process involves numerous questions about what type of symptoms you are experiencing and some history taking . This allows me to get to know you as much as I can within the first session but also have some information to help collaborate with your treatment plan.
Unfortunately, there can be many different occurrences that can happen in life that may cause us trauma. We can spend days, months, and years trying to suppress or "stuff" those unpleasant memories, times, and thoughts. We can try to put them in a box and on a back shelf of our brains... but the body remembers. The good news is, that our trauma can be worked through. It can be processed with the right tools which helps us reduce the intensity of these negative and traumatic thoughts and memories. In addition to being trained in trauma counseling, I am trained in Perinatal Mental Health providing support to those with preconception, pregnancy, perinatal loss, infertility, and post-partum mental health complications for both parents. Motherhood can be one of the most isolating, demanding and challenging periods and it is an honor to come alongside my clients to provide additional support and skills.
I am best positioned to serve those that may be struggling with the following concerns and are open and ready to challenge some of the barriers that may be delaying or interfering with progress : Trauma Perinatal Mental Health Depression Anxiety Addiction Grief
I have been utilizing EMDR in my practice for over a year now, and although I commonly use it for those struggling with trauma, it can be effective for many other mental health concerns as well. EMDR can be done virtually.
I have been utilizing Trauma CBT and CBT for over 10 years in my practice in which faulty belief systems and thoughts can be challenged.
