Hi, I'm Jen, a Licensed Independent Social Worker and much of my career has been spent supporting individuals and families through some of life's most difficult moments. My professional experience spans outpatient and inpatient therapy, inpatient psychiatry, psychiatric emergency services, emergency medicine, and child welfare. These experiences have shaped the clinician I am today. They have taught me that people are far more than the hardest thing that has ever happened to them; and that healing rarely follows a straight line. The Person Behind the Therapist: I am LatinX and the daughter of a first-generation immigrant. My culture, family, and experiences have shaped how I see the world and understand the importance of connection, community, and belonging. As a social worker, I also believe that mental health doesn't exist in a vacuum. Our relationships, culture, identity, communities, access to resources, and experiences with larger systems can all affect our well-being. I am passionate about racial, social, and economic justice, and I bring that social-work lens into my practice. I am also proud to be an LGBTQIA+ ally and am committed to creating an affirming environment where people can feel respected and safe being themselves. You don't have to leave parts of yourself at the door when you come to therapy. What I Want You to Know: You don't need the right words. You don't have to know exactly where to begin. My role isn't to tell you who you should be or what your life should look like. My role is to listen, help you make sense of what you're experiencing, and walk alongside you as you work toward where you want to go. You simply have to take the first step. From there, we can begin together.
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and for you to share what brings you to therapy, at your own pace. We’ll talk about your experiences, strengths, goals, and what you hope to gain from therapy. You’ll have space to ask questions, and we’ll begin creating a plan together that feels comfortable and meaningful for you.
I believe therapy is a collaborative journey built on trust, compassion, and respect. You are the expert on your own life. My role is to bring clinical knowledge, curiosity, compassion, and tools to the room while working alongside you to understand what you're experiencing and where you want to go. I take a trauma-informed, person-centered approach and recognize that every person's story, strengths, needs, identity, and goals are different. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. I also believe that therapy should be a place where you feel safe enough to be honest. That means you don't have to perform, have all the answers, or worry about being judged. We can talk about the difficult things, the confusing things, the things you're still trying to understand, and even the things you aren't quite ready to put into words. I strive to create an affirming space for people of all backgrounds, identities, cultures, and experiences, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community. As a social worker, I also recognize that our mental health is influenced by the world around us. Culture, identity, family, relationships, finances, access to resources, and experiences with systems can all shape how we experience ourselves and our lives. Most importantly, I believe healing happens through authentic connection. Therapy isn't about judging where you are or telling you who you should be. It's about creating space to better understand yourself, process what has been difficult, recognize your strengths, and discover ways to move forward. Sometimes healing is a big step. Sometimes it's a very small one. Both count
My ideal client may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or simply ready for something to change. You may be navigating a difficult experience, working through trauma, anxiety, mood changes, grief, burnout, or a major life transition. You don’t have to know exactly what you need from therapy. If you’re open to exploring your experiences, understanding yourself more deeply, and taking steps toward feeling more grounded and connected, we can work together.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses on the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Together, we’ll explore patterns that may be keeping you stuck, challenge unhelpful thoughts, and develop practical strategies to respond to difficult situations in healthier ways. CBT can be especially helpful when navigating anxiety, depression, stress, relationship challenges, and other concerns that affect your daily life.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based approach designed to help process and heal from difficult or traumatic experiences. It can help with trauma-related stress, anxiety, mood changes, and grief. Treatment may include learning coping skills, understanding trauma responses, managing difficult emotions, and gradually processing the experience in a safe and supportive way.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) helps you better understand and manage your emotions, cope with distress, and navigate difficult situations and relationships. Together, we’ll identify patterns that may be making things harder, build practical skills for regulating emotions, and explore healthier ways to respond when emotions feel overwhelming. DBT can help you feel more in control, strengthen relationships, and respond to life’s challenges with greater confidence and intention.
Somatic therapy explores the connection between your mind, emotions, and body. Together, we may pay attention to physical sensations, patterns, and responses that can provide insight into what you’re experiencing. Through gentle, body-based practices alongside talk therapy, we can work toward releasing tension, increasing awareness, and helping you feel more grounded, connected, and present.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) focuses on your strengths, goals, and the changes you want to make in your life. Rather than focusing only on what isn’t working, we’ll explore what is working, recognize moments when things feel different, and identify small, practical steps toward your goals. I believe you have strengths and resilience that can help guide your path forward.
