Hi, I’m Angie Dominguez, a mental health therapist with 9 years of experience, who works primarily with adolescents and young adults. I offer a warm, supportive, and judgment-free space where clients can feel heard and understood. I help clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, relationship challenges, emotional regulation, and life transitions. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and practical, with a focus on helping clients feel more grounded, confident, and empowered.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, clients can expect a welcoming and judgment-free space where they can share at their own pace. We will talk about what brought them to therapy, what they are hoping to work on, and any goals they may have. Clients do not need to have everything figured out before starting. Together, we will begin creating a plan that feels realistic, supportive, and personalized to their needs.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strength as a therapist is my ability to create a space where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood without judgment. I bring warmth, honesty, humor when appropriate, and a down-to-earth style that helps therapy feel less intimidating and more human. My approach is both compassionate and practical, meaning I help clients process what they are feeling while also giving them tools they can use in real life. I am especially skilled at working with adolescents, young adults, and clients who have experienced trauma, anxiety, family conflict, relationship stress, or self-doubt. What makes my work unique is that I balance emotional depth with realistic coping strategies, helping clients feel supported while also empowering them to build confidence, self-awareness, and lasting change.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is an adolescent, young adult, or adult who may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or unsure of how to manage everything they are carrying. I am especially passionate about working with clients navigating trauma, stress, life transitions, relationship concerns, self-esteem issues, emotional regulation, family conflict, school or work-related pressure, and identity development. I work well with clients who may not have all the words yet, but are open to feeling understood, building insight, and learning practical tools to cope in healthier ways. My goal is to support clients in feeling safe, empowered, and more connected to themselves as they move toward healing, confidence, and meaningful change.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and physical responses. In my practice, I use CBT in a supportive and collaborative way by helping clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, challenge negative beliefs, develop healthier coping skills, and practice new behaviors outside of session. I often incorporate CBT techniques such as cognitive reframing, journaling, behavioral activation, grounding strategies, problem-solving, and skills practice. My goal is to help clients build insight while also giving them practical tools they can use in real-life situations, especially when managing anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, relationship concerns, school-related challenges, or life transitions.

Compassion Focused

I use Compassion Focused Therapy to help clients develop a kinder and more understanding relationship with themselves, especially when they struggle with shame, self-criticism, anxiety, trauma, or feeling “not good enough.” In my practice, I help clients notice harsh inner dialogue, understand where those patterns may have come from, and begin building a more supportive inner voice. I incorporate compassion-focused skills such as mindfulness, grounding, self-compassion exercises, emotional regulation strategies, and reframing self-blame. My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can feel understood while learning how to respond to themselves with more patience, care, and emotional balance.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I use Mindfulness-Based Therapy to help clients slow down, notice what they are experiencing in the present moment, and respond with more awareness rather than reacting automatically. In my practice, I incorporate mindfulness in a practical and approachable way through grounding exercises, breathing techniques, body awareness, guided reflection, and emotional regulation skills. I often use mindfulness to support clients dealing with anxiety, stress, depression, trauma responses, relationship concerns, and overwhelming emotions. My goal is to help clients feel more connected to themselves, better understand their thoughts and feelings, and build tools they can use outside of session to feel more calm, centered, and in control.

Motivational Interviewing

I use Motivational Interviewing to help clients explore mixed feelings about change in a supportive, nonjudgmental way. In my practice, I use this approach to help clients identify their own values, strengths, goals, and reasons for wanting things to be different. I often incorporate open-ended questions, reflective listening, validation, and collaborative goal-setting to support clients who may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure about next steps. My goal is to help clients feel empowered and respected while building confidence, motivation, and readiness to make meaningful changes at their own pace.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I use Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to support clients who have experienced trauma, stressful life events, or painful experiences that continue to affect their emotions, thoughts, relationships, or sense of safety. In my practice, I use this approach gently and at the client’s pace by helping clients build coping skills, understand trauma responses, process difficult thoughts and feelings, and reduce shame or self-blame. I may incorporate grounding strategies, relaxation skills, emotional regulation, cognitive reframing, gradual processing of traumatic experiences, and caregiver support when appropriate. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where clients can feel understood, regain a sense of control, and build healthier ways of coping and healing.
