First session
In your first session, you can expect a space that is centered entirely on you—your experiences, your pace, and your comfort. From a humanistic perspective, the goal is to create a supportive environment where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood. As your therapist, I will approach you with unconditional positive regard, meaning you are accepted as you are, without judgment or pressure to be anything different. Rather than focusing on “fixing” you, the session is about getting to know who you are, what has brought you in, and what matters most to you. You are free to share as much or as little as feels right. I will listen with openness and curiosity, helping you explore your thoughts and emotions in a way that feels safe and empowering. This first meeting is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, express any concerns, and begin building a sense of trust. The relationship itself is an important part of the process, and the focus is on creating a foundation of acceptance, authenticity, and collaboration as you move forward together.
Strengths
As a therapist, I strive to bring authenticity, warmth, and deep respect into every interaction. My approach is grounded in unconditional positive regard, meaning I meet you with acceptance, compassion, and without judgment—no matter what you’re carrying or how you’re feeling. I value creating a space where you can show up fully as yourself, knowing you will be heard and understood. I prioritize building a genuine, trusting relationship, as I believe meaningful change happens within a safe and supportive connection. I listen with curiosity and empathy, while also helping you gently explore patterns, emotions, and experiences in a way that feels collaborative rather than directive. My role is not to “fix” you, but to support you in connecting with your own strengths, insight, and capacity for growth. I also recognize that each person’s journey is unique. I work flexibly and at your pace, honoring your autonomy while offering guidance when it feels helpful. Above all, I aim to foster a space where you feel empowered, accepted, and encouraged as you move toward the life you want to build.
Ideal clients
The clients who tend to benefit most from this work are those who are open, at their own pace, to exploring their internal experiences with honesty and curiosity. You may not have everything figured out, but you have a willingness to begin looking at your thoughts, emotions, and patterns in a new way. You are open to facing uncertainty, even if it feels uncomfortable, and are motivated to make meaningful changes in your life. This approach is especially supportive for individuals navigating mood disorders, OCD, anxiety-related concerns, and/or substance use challenges. You may feel stuck in cycles of overthinking, avoidance, emotional overwhelm, or self-criticism, and are ready to begin understanding these patterns with greater compassion rather than judgment. An ideal client is not someone who is “perfectly ready,” but someone who is willing to show up authentically and engage in the process. If you are open to building a trusting therapeutic relationship, exploring new perspectives, and taking steps, big or small, toward growth and healing, this space is designed to support you.
Treatment methods
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals build a healthier relationship with their thoughts and emotions rather than trying to eliminate them. Instead of getting stuck in cycles of avoidance, ACT supports you in learning how to accept difficult internal experiences while staying grounded in the present moment. Together, we identify what truly matters to you—your values—and develop practical steps to help you move toward a more meaningful, fulfilling life, even in the presence of anxiety, stress, or self-doubt.
Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is an evidence-based therapy that helps individuals break free from anxiety and obsessive-compulsive patterns by gradually facing fears in a safe, supported way. Instead of avoiding triggers or relying on compulsions for relief, ERP guides you in learning how to tolerate discomfort and uncertainty without engaging in those behaviors. Over time, this process helps reduce anxiety, build confidence, and retrain your brain to recognize that feared outcomes are less likely or less dangerous than they feel—allowing you to regain control and fully engage in your life.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
A person-centered approach is a compassionate, client-led form of therapy that creates a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace. Rather than directing or diagnosing, the therapist offers empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard to support your natural ability to grow and heal. This approach helps you build self-awareness, strengthen your sense of self, and move toward the changes that feel most meaningful and aligned with who you are.
