What if you could become a mental gymnast, capable of flexing your mind to navigate challenges with resilience? What if I said that many emotional obstacles arise from a tension between our rational thoughts and the instincts shaped by our life experiences? Mental flexibility is key to resolving this inner conflict and promoting emotional well-being. As a North Carolina-based therapist specializing in mental health and substance use issues, my approach centers on meeting you where you are and establishing a foundation of trust and collaboration. I draw upon a blend of Humanistic, Interpersonal, Cognitive, and Behavioral theories to offer a tailored therapeutic experience. With a background in various settings like outpatient care, hospitals, and corrections facilities, I’ve refined my expertise in treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Taking the initiative to seek help is a brave act of strength that paves the way for transformative change over time. I look forward to speaking with you soon!
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Our first session focuses on getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. We will talk about the challenges you are currently facing, what you would like to change or improve, and any background that helps provide context. My goal is to create a comfortable and supportive environment where you feel heard and understood. By the end of the session, we will usually have a clearer sense of your goals and the direction we want to take moving forward.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
• Treating ADHD, depression, and anxiety • Experience working with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders • Supporting individuals in recovery and behavioral change • A collaborative and non-judgmental therapeutic style • Practical strategies for emotional regulation, focus, and resilience
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal clients are adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or frustrated by patterns related to ADHD, anxiety, depression, or substance use. Many are capable and thoughtful people who want to better understand themselves and develop practical strategies for managing focus, emotions, relationships, and daily responsibilities. Some are navigating recovery from alcohol or substance use while also addressing underlying mental health challenges. Others are working to improve emotional regulation, motivation, or clarity about their direction in life. They are often individuals who value insight, personal growth, and building healthier ways of responding to stress and life’s challenges.

Matt is extremely talented and caring but very disengaged during appointments. He seemed to being going through something himself. If he works through his own issues, and becomes engaged during appointments he could be one of the best providers. I had appointments where he was laying in bed, or driving, or just didn't seem like he wanted to be there. He's so talented once he gets it together, he could make a killing because he is very knowledgeable. He didn't offer a treatment plan.

We never made it past the "getting to know you phase". He was nice enough, but didn't really offer any helpful advice during our complered sessions. Maybe he is going through something himself.

Great talk with Matt. This was the first conversation but definitely looking forward to how things grow.
