LaToya Ntlabati
I am a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who is passionate about helping individuals find hope, healing, and lasting mental wellness. With experience caring for adolescents , adults, and older adults, I treat a wide range of conditions, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and trauma-related disorders. A former U.S. Navy Nurse Corps Officer, I combine evidence-based psychiatric care with a compassionate, holistic approach that recognizes the connection between the mind, body, and spirit. I believe every person deserves to feel heard, understood, and empowered throughout their healing journey. My goal is to partner with clients to create personalized treatment plans that promote resilience, emotional well-being, and meaningful, lasting change.
First session
During our first session, my priority is getting to know you, not just your symptoms, but your story. We’ll discuss what brought you to treatment, your current concerns, your personal and family history, and the goals you hope to achieve. I’ll also ask questions about your medical history, lifestyle, sleep, relationships, and any previous mental health treatment so I can gain a complete understanding of your needs. This is a judgment-free space where you can share openly at your own pace. Together, we’ll develop a personalized treatment plan that may include medication management, supportive psychotherapy, and practical strategies to support your overall well-being. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, discuss treatment options, and leave with a clear understanding of the next steps. My goal is for you to feel heard, supported, and hopeful as we begin your journey toward healing.
Strengths
One of my greatest strengths is my ability to hear what isn’t being said. Many clients come to therapy knowing something doesn’t feel right but struggle to put their thoughts or emotions into words. I listen deeply, ask thoughtful questions, and help you make sense of your experiences in a way that brings clarity and insight. I strive to create a safe, compassionate space where you feel truly seen, heard, and understood. Together, we’ll uncover the patterns contributing to your challenges and develop practical, personalized strategies to help you heal, grow, and move forward with confidence.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is ready to take an active role in their mental health and is open to healing, growth, and lasting change. They may be struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, mood disorders, or feeling overwhelmed by life’s demands. Many of my clients have spent so much time caring for others that they’ve neglected themselves and are looking for a safe, supportive space to reconnect with who they are. Whether you’re seeking symptom relief, greater emotional balance, healthier relationships, or a renewed sense of purpose, I’ll meet you where you are. Together, we’ll create a personalized, evidence-based treatment plan that supports your goals and promotes healing of the mind, body, and spirit.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients recognize the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or other emotional challenges. I guide clients in challenging these thoughts, developing healthier perspectives, and practicing practical coping skills they can use in everyday life. My approach is collaborative and tailored to each individual’s needs. Whether combined with medication management or used on its own, CBT helps clients build resilience, improve emotional regulation, strengthen problem-solving skills, and create lasting changes that support long-term mental wellness.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop a healthier relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions rather than feeling controlled by them. Instead of trying to eliminate uncomfortable feelings, ACT teaches mindfulness, acceptance, and psychological flexibility so clients can respond to challenges in ways that align with their values. Together, we identify what matters most to you, reduce the impact of self-critical or unhelpful thoughts, and build practical skills that help you move toward the life you want to live. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions, ACT can help you become more present, resilient, and committed to meaningful, lasting change.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I incorporate mindfulness-based therapy to help clients become more aware of their thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations without judgment. Through mindfulness practices, I teach clients how to stay grounded in the present moment, reduce stress, and respond to life’s challenges with greater clarity and intention rather than reacting automatically. I often integrate mindfulness with other evidence-based approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to help improve emotional regulation, decrease anxiety, manage depression, and build resilience. My goal is to equip clients with practical skills they can use in everyday life to cultivate greater peace, self-awareness, and overall mental well-being.
