Hi, I’m Andrea Barreto, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with nearly 20 years of experience helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with clarity and confidence. My approach blends Person-Centered therapy with trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioral strategies to create a supportive space for healing, growth, and lasting change. Whether you're managing anxiety, working through trauma, or seeking more meaningful relationships, I’m here to help you reconnect with your strengths and move forward with purpose.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, you can expect a warm, nonjudgmental space where we’ll talk about what brings you to therapy and what you’re hoping to achieve. I’ll ask questions to understand your history, current challenges, and goals. After that, we’ll explore your needs, feelings, and what you’re looking for in this process. At the end of our session, we’ll discuss how you're feeling and what you want moving forward. Together, we’ll schedule your follow-up visits at a pace that feels right for you and aligns with your needs. From there, we’ll begin to devise a plan of action to support your growth and help you meet your goals.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
What stands out most about my approach is my ability to help clients uncover what they often feel is hidden—thoughts, emotions, and patterns they may not yet fully understand. I create a safe, grounded space where even the most difficult work feels possible, helping people move forward even when they’re unsure they can. My blend of warmth, clarity, and structure—grounded in person-centered values and trauma-informed CBT—supports deep insight and real, lasting change. Clients often tell me they feel truly seen and empowered in ways they didn’t think were possible.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I’m best suited to help individuals who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected—from themselves, their relationships, or their purpose. Many of my clients are navigating trauma, anxiety, life transitions, or patterns of people-pleasing and self-doubt. If you’re ready to explore your inner world, understand what’s getting in your way, and make changes that align with your values, I’ll offer a compassionate, grounded space to do just that—at your pace, and on your terms.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
In my practice, I use Person-Centered (Rogerian) Counseling to foster a warm, nonjudgmental relationship built on empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. This approach supports clients in accessing their own inner wisdom and promotes self-trust and personal growth. I integrate trauma-informed CBT to help identify and reframe unhelpful thinking patterns, always honoring the client’s lived experience and ensuring emotional safety throughout the process.
Trauma Informed Care
Trauma is a part of life but it does not have to be central focus of life. We will work together to resolve symptoms of trauma while diving deep to remove old thinking patterns and false beliefs that keep you stuck.

Andrea's profile really spoke to me. This was my 1st time meeting with a therapist and she helped me understand the process and made me feel so comfortable dealing with my current situation. She helped me put a plan in place and made me the focus. I look forward to talking with her again and would recommend her to anyone that needs a caring, guiding voice to help them get through things.
