Addi Tesm
I am a warm, approachable, and compassionate person who believes that feeling truly heard and understood is an important part of healing. Throughout my experience, I’ve found that people naturally feel comfortable opening up to me, and I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can be completely yourself. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner, I bring both clinical knowledge and a holistic perspective to my work. My education and professional experience allow me to understand the medical and mental health aspects of what you may be experiencing, while my own life experience, the challenges, growth, ups and downs, and lessons along the way, have given me a deeper sense of empathy, wisdom, and understanding. I believe that every person is different, and there is no one size fits all approach to mental health. I will take the time to understand you as an individual, listen to your concerns, and work collaboratively with you to determine what approach feels right. Whether that means medication, therapy, lifestyle changes, or a combination of approaches, we will work together toward helping you feel better, function better, and develop a healthier relationship with yourself and your life. My goal is not simply to treat a diagnosis, but to understand the person behind it. I want you to feel respected, supported, empowered, and comfortable being honest about what you’re going through. Healing is a journey, and I would be honored to walk alongside you.
Strengths
What makes my approach stand out is the combination of empathy, clinical experience, and genuine connection. I am a very good listener, and I want you to feel truly heard and understood without judgment. At the same time, I don’t believe therapy should be about simply sitting and talking without moving forward. My own life experiences, including the challenges and ups and downs I’ve faced, have given me a deeper sense of compassion and empathy for people and the different seasons of life they may be experiencing. Professionally, my experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner before becoming a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner has also given me a strong clinical foundation and a broader understanding of the connection between physical and mental health. I will listen, but I will also encourage you, empower you, and gently challenge you when appropriate. My hope is that each time we meet, you feel that you’ve gained something, whether it’s a new perspective, a healthier way of coping, a positive change in your life, or simply a better understanding of yourself. I want us to work together toward meaningful growth, one step at a time.
Treatment methods
Compassion-Focused
I believe compassion starts with truly seeing and understanding each person as they are. I bring both my professional training and my own experiences with the ups and downs of life to create a space where you can feel heard, respected, and supported without judgment. Together, we’ll explore what you’re going through and find an approach that fits your unique needs, circumstances, and strengths. My goal is to help you build greater self-compassion, confidence, and a healthier relationship with yourself.
