Hi, I am Kelly and I empower you to cultivate your growth and well-being! Don't you wish you had someone to listen and help you make sense of the overwhelming thoughts, feelings, and stressors in your life, and come up with a plan of action that will help you improve your mental health? If so, we may be a good fit to work together. My goal is to be that person and offer you targeted time and space to invest in your mental health and well-being.
In our first session together, we will start with some brief introductions and housekeeping issues, and then begin to explore the motivation and reason for you booking your sessions. From there, this will give me the opportunity to conceptualize your challenges, Goals, desired outcomes, and thoughts on how you wish to arrive to your desired state of mental health and wellbeing. We will co-create a tailored plan of what you need to cultivate a path of wellness.
I believe my biggest strength is presence. I set myself up to be fully present in your sessions and I believe this makes a difference in my ability to connect with you and truly sit with you in the cognitive and emotional space you are in. I honor the complexities of each person's life and respect each person's unique trauma history & experience with the world. I have worked extensively with kids & families with multi-systemic involvement, adults seeking improved well-being, parents adjusting to parenthood, and overall just people who want to experience a greater sense of peace, joy, and confidence in their lives. My mission is to promote mental health and well-being by normalizing access to clinical services and professional supportive relationships.
Trauma Informed and Trauma Focused Therapy enhances the understanding of how cognitions, physiological reactions, narratives, and worldviews impact one's emotional responses and behavior due to one's unique trauma history. I assess past trauma and patterns of behavior in order to choose interventions that will promote awareness, safety, regulation, and self compassion. My experience working with clients and their families with complex trauma histories and multi-systemic involvement provided me years of exposure of how trauma impacts the way we think, feel, respond, and choose to navigate challenges in our lives and relationships.
People arrive to therapy at various stages of change. Being able to accept where one is at in their journey while actively considering alternatives and gaining motivation to change is facilitated through DBT interventions.
Working with kids and families who have experienced changes in early caregiving, especially traumatic experiences, shaped how I deeply understood the power and influence our early parental figures can have on our development and wellbeing. I help clients understand their attachment patterns and how maladaptive patterns may be showing up in their lives and relationships. My goal is to help clients experience safe and stable relationships with themselves and others.
Teaching clients to identify their wants and needs and exploring their go-to strategies to meet those needs allows them the opportunity to self evaluate their choices and invites the opportunity to hone different, often more healthy adaptive ways in meeting their needs.
The stories or tapes we play ourselves internally have a dramatic impact on how our lives unfold; clients can benefit from exploring and identifying the internal scripts they have been operating with and if the scripts are holding them back from their full potential and self esteem, I encourage clients to consider more positive, affirmative self images and scripts that promote greath and confidence.
