About

As both a registered nurse and a licensed professional counselor, I can offer my clients a unique range of support. I am not licensed to prescribe medication, however, I can support clients as they make changes to their medication by helping them identify and describe how the medication is affecting them. I also support clients by helping them to seek physical health support to rule out any underlying medical condition that may be impacting their emotional health. I work with clients to help them understand why they feel and behave the way they do. Identifying maladaptive coping skills and replacing them with effective coping skills that are tailored to each individual client.

First session

An initial session involves time for questions that can lead to a better understanding of your needs as well as helping you to determine if I am a good fit for your needs.

Strengths

I meet each client where they are with unconditional positive regard. Well I cannot remove mental health symptoms, I can assist you to live well in the presence of those symptoms.

Ideal clients

Adults dealing with sexual compulsive behavior, including pornography use. Couples navigating betrayal and trust injuries. Adults in need of assistance in living their best life in the presence of mental and physical health concerns including anxiety, anger management issues, chronic health concerns, grief and loss and compulsive behavior. I also work with adults dealing with sex offenses. Victims of narcissistic type abuse.

Treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy that encourages us to set goals, accept what is required to reach the goals and commit to acting in the presence of uncomfortable feelings in the service of achieving our goals. I have used ACT in my practice for over 10 years.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT helps us change how we think about ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us. Analyzing and confronting the thoughts we assume are infallible can be a very helpful approach to treating mental health symptoms.
