New to Grow
Hello! My name is Erin and I am happy that you are here! I have been licensed as a Professional Counselor since 2007 and I significant experience with clients of all ages. I have worked with children as young as 5 and adults as old as 105. I have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Wheeling Jesuit University and a Masters of Education in Community Counseling from Kent State University. I focus on person centered therapy and am also trained in Trauma Focused CBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and have a certification with The Grief Recovery Method. I enjoy meeting clients where they are at and giving them a safe space to explore emotions and begin to heal from painful experiences. I utilize telehealth as well as some in person sessions (location to be determined).
I will focus on getting to know you and competing an initial diagnostic assessment. The most important part of the first session is building rapport and gaining an understanding of what brought you to therapy.
I enjoy meeting clients where they are at in order to build a strong trusting relationship where healing and change can begin. I am comfortable with both children as well as adults and enjoy celebrating growth no matter how big or small it may be. I also have experience working with those who have special needs as well as chronic illnesses/conditions.
I have extensive experience working with those who have experienced trauma as well as grief and loss. I enjoy clients who are creative and motivated for change. I enjoy working with people of all ages and walks of life. I am also comfortable with different cultural experiences as well as those who would like to incorporate spirituality into their sessions.
I utilize TF CBT to help others identify areas of their thinking that interfere with mood, anxiety, as well as how they interact with others. I help them explore their past traumas and how trauma impacts not only the brain but also the body.
During my undergraduate studies, I completed a minor that was a combination of philosophy and theology. I have experience working with youth through youth ministry programs in the area.
I have utilized DBT to help both children and adults learn mindfulness skills as well as distress tolerance and improving emotional regulation.
I have a certification from The Grief Recovery Method. I was trained by the founder, John James, and have utilized this method to help those experiencing numerous types of grief including death, divorce, loss of job, losses in relationships, life stages such as retirement, etctili
I utilize person centered therapy to help build a safe and trusting relationship with my clients.
