My name is Teo Chiesa, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in the Central Valley. I am deeply passionate about my work, and I believe my diverse background in education, training, and experience uniquely equips me to help individuals heal and grow. Drawing from a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches—such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy—I tailor my practice to meet each client’s unique needs. There is no greater reward than witnessing clients overcome self-doubt and trauma to become the best versions of themselves. It is truly an honor to walk alongside clients on their journey of self-discovery, supporting them as they build more fulfilling and authentic lives.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In a first session with me, clients can expect to review necessary documentation and paperwork, as well as engage in an introductory conversation aimed at getting to know each other. I strive to create an open and welcoming environment that encourages a sense of safety, comfort, and empowerment. Recognizing that the therapeutic relationship is a crucial aspect of the process, this initial session allows us to assess our compatibility and establish a foundation for effective collaboration moving forward.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a provider lie in my deep curiosity about people and my unwavering commitment to being fully present with each client. I prioritize creating a space where clients feel truly heard and understood, ensuring that they have my full attention and support during our sessions. This engagement helps foster a strong therapeutic alliance, allowing clients to feel valued and supported as they explore their thoughts, emotions, and challenges.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I have experience working with both adult men and women across a broad spectrum of diagnoses. I particularly enjoy treating clients facing PTSD and trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, self-esteem issues, major life transitions, and relational challenges. This diverse range allows me to connect with clients on various levels and tailor my approach to their specific needs.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I am a trained and experienced EMDR provider with over three years of practice and hundreds of hours of hands-on clinical work utilizing evidence-based EMDR standard protocols. I have developed a deep expertise in applying EMDR to address trauma, and I am also trained in the use of the EMDR Flash Technique. This specialized protocol allows me to support clients who experience difficulty processing their trauma memories, providing a less invasive and highly effective approach to healing.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into my clinical practice, helping clients identify their core values and develop strategies to live in alignment with those values, even in the face of life's challenges. ACT is a well-established, evidence-based therapeutic approach with a strong body of research supporting its effectiveness in promoting psychological flexibility and improving overall well-being.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I utilize a Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) approach, grounded in the belief that clients have the internal resources and strengths needed to achieve their goals. I work collaboratively with clients to identify their values, strengths, and practical steps for overcoming challenges, empowering them to take action even when facing difficulty. By focusing on solutions rather than problems, I help clients build on small, positive changes that lead to meaningful progress, fostering a sense of agency and confidence in their ability to create the life they want.
