About me

Kristine was born and raised near Chicago in a blue-collar family. Her mother is an Italian immigrant, and her father is a second-generation Czech American. These experiences shaped her appreciation for family, resilience, and the importance of relationships. Kristine earned her undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, followed by a Master of Social Work from the University of Denver. She also completed a post-master’s certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy. Kristine’s professional passion lies in working with adults, particularly older adults. Much of her career has been spent in healthcare settings, where she has had the privilege of supporting individuals through a wide range of life experiences and challenges. She enjoys walking alongside clients as they navigate relationships, life transitions, stressors, medical concerns, and grief. Her approach is grounded in compassion, respect, and a genuine appreciation for each person’s unique story and journey.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first therapy session can feel unfamiliar or even unnerving, regardless of whether you have participated in therapy before. To establish a strong foundation for our work together, I structure the initial session to learn as much as possible about you, your history, and the experiences that have shaped you. I often say that the first session is more about me than you, as it provides valuable context and insights that help inform and guide our work together moving forward.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Growing up in a blue-collar family and experiencing a multicultural family background gives Kristine an appreciation for different perspectives, family dynamics, values, and life experiences. She views therapy as a collaborative relationship rather than simply providing answers or solutions. Her work with adults and older adults has given her a deep understanding of the many transitions people face throughout adulthood—changes in relationships, health, family roles, independence, and identity. Additionally, her experience with grief, particularly in healthcare settings, allows you to sit with difficult emotions rather than needing to quickly move clients toward “feeling better.”

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Adults often come to therapy carrying responsibilities involving partners, children, aging parents, careers, finances, health, and changing family roles. Kristine understands the complexity of relationships and is comfortable with life transitions. She understands that emotional well-being and physical health are often deeply connected. Kristine is comfortable having conversations about medical issues, caregiving, aging, grief, and the emotional impact of health changes. She brings maturity and perspective to the therapeutic relationship, and respects the experiences you have accumulated throughout your lives rather than viewing them simply through the lens of your current circumstances.
