New to Grow
Reaching out for support—whether for yourself or your relationship—can feel intimidating, so I’m glad you’re here. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist providing therapy for adult individuals and couples in Minnesota and Florida. With 16 years of experience in the mental health field, I help clients navigate challenges such as anxiety, relationship conflict, life transitions, and other emotional concerns. I have a special focus on working with couples, helping partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen their connection. I also offer Christian-based counseling for those who would like to incorporate their faith into the therapy process. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can gain insight, develop practical tools, and move toward healthier patterns and meaningful change.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During our first session, we’ll complete an initial assessment so I can get to know you and better understand what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk about your goals, current concerns, and the strengths you already have that can support your growth. My goal is to create a welcoming, safe space where you feel comfortable sharing openly. From there, we’ll continue working together to better understand your challenges, develop helpful tools, and make meaningful progress toward improving your quality of life and reaching your personal goals.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Each person comes to therapy with a unique story that shapes how they view themselves, their relationships, and the world around them. While every experience is different, there are often patterns we can explore and address to improve overall well-being and quality of life. My approach is down-to-earth, supportive, and straightforward. I focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship where you feel heard and respected, while also being gently challenged to grow. Knowing that therapy can be emotionally draining I also balance humor and joy into sessions, when appropriate. I believe I have a skill set for empathizing well with others and walking with them in times of happiness, confusion, sorrow, anger, pain or whatever they are going through. Clients working with me have the most success when they proactively participate and do their best in following through with any in-between session homework given. I love to use psychoeducation in session as I teach or describe a certain skill set or behavioral pattern.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I have been trained in and have used DBT therapy in group, couple's, and individual contexts. DBT skills are extremely practical as they pertain to so many life areas such as relationships, managing emotions, handling crisis, and improving mindfulness.
Christian Counseling
I have specialization in working with clients who desire to utilize their Christian faith in therapy. My education in theology and seminary training greatly help me in integrating the Christian faith with psychology. I enjoy working with pastors, Christian couples, and anyone who desires to learn more about their Christian faith.
Couples Counseling
Working with couples is one of my biggest passions. I utilize the Gottman Method, the PREPARE/ENRICH relational assessment, other psychoeducational materials, enactment in session, and modeling.
Trauma Informed Care
When working with very difficult and sensitive experiences and traumas, I like to thoroughly assess which treatment would work best for the individual. I am trained in Prolonged Exposure (PE) as well as Brainspotting which I use often in trauma informed care. Clients often find a significant decrease in trauma symptoms fairly rapidly.
