Who I Am Hi, I'm Anicia Cross-Robinson, DNP, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC — a dual board-certified, doctorally prepared nurse practitioner with over 20 years of experience in family medicine and psychiatric mental health care. I started this practice because I believe high-quality mental health care should feel as personal as it is clinical.

I know that follow-up and commitment are key to building lasting relationships with our clients, which is why I make these values a top priority.

My approach is grounded in evidence, and guided by the understanding that behind every diagnosis is a whole person with a unique story, set of strengths, and vision for their life. What Brings People to Me My clients come in navigating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, PTSD, ADHD, burnout, and the weight of major life transitions. Many have felt rushed or dismissed elsewhere. Here, you'll find a provider who takes time to understand not just your symptoms — but the full picture of your health and life. How We Work Together I take a whole-self approach to psychiatric care — integrating medication management with thoughtful, personalized clinical guidance tailored to your goals. Every care plan we build together is designed around you: your history, your values, and where you want to go. You can expect honest communication, genuine collaboration, and care that evolves with you over time. I commonly support people experiencing: Anxiety · Depression · PTSD · Mood disorders · ADHD · Burnout · Life transitions Reaching out is often the hardest step. I'm glad you're here, and I look forward to working with you.

First session

Our first session is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation — a dedicated space for me to understand you before we talk about anything else. We'll explore your current symptoms, mental health, and medical history, previous treatments, and what's brought you here now. I'll ask thoughtful questions, and I want you to ask them too. By the end of our time together, you'll have a clear picture of my clinical impressions, a preliminary care plan, and honest guidance on whether medication may be helpful for you. Come as you are. There's nothing you need to prepare — just show up ready to have an open conversation.

Strengths

What sets my practice apart is the breadth of perspective I bring to every session. As a dual board-certified Family and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a doctorate and over 20 years of experience, I'm trained to see the whole picture — because mental health doesn't exist in isolation from your body. Hormones, sleep, chronic illness, and medical history all shape how we feel, and I'm equipped to assess them together. I bring particular depth to complex cases — multiple diagnoses, layered medication histories, and needs that haven't been fully met elsewhere. I'm comfortable sitting with complexity and committed to getting it right. Above all, I lead with genuine curiosity and respect. Care here is never one-size-fits-all. My clients often share that they finally feel heard — and to me, that matters as much as any clinical outcome.

Ideal clients

I work with clients across the lifespan — from children age 6 through older adults — and I find that breadth genuinely enriching. Every stage of life brings its own clinical nuance, and I'm trained and experienced to meet each one with care. Regardless of age, I work best with clients — and for younger clients, families — who are ready to engage honestly in the process. You don't need to have everything figured out, but a genuine openness to the work makes all the difference. My clients are often navigating anxiety, depression, mood instability, PTSD, ADHD, or burnout — and many have felt like previous providers treated their symptoms without truly seeing them. Whether you're a child struggling in school, a young adult facing your first mental health diagnosis, or an adult quietly carrying more than you've let on, this practice was built to meet you where you are. I'm particularly well-suited to clients with complex or overlapping conditions, medical histories that intersect with their mental health, and those who simply want a provider who will take time to listen, explain, and collaborate.

Treatment methods

Supportive

Supportive therapy is the foundation of how I show up in every session. Before any clinical intervention, I prioritize creating a space where you feel genuinely safe, respected, and understood. This means active listening, honest feedback, and meeting you exactly where you are — without judgment. I use supportive techniques to help clients build emotional resilience, strengthen self-awareness, and develop practical coping strategies for daily stressors. For many of my clients, having a consistent, grounding therapeutic relationship is itself part of the healing process. I integrate this approach alongside medication management to ensure your care addresses both the biological and emotional dimensions of your wellbeing.

Motivational Interviewing

Change is rarely linear — and it rarely happens when someone feels pushed. I use Motivational Interviewing to help clients explore their own ambivalence, clarify their values, and move toward change at a pace that feels sustainable and self-directed. This approach is particularly effective when clients are navigating medication adherence, lifestyle shifts, or ambivalence about treatment itself. My role is not to prescribe a path, but to help you find your own — and trust that you're capable of walking it.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is one of the most well-researched approaches in psychiatric care, and it's one I draw on regularly — particularly for clients managing anxiety, depression, PTSD, and mood disorders. At its core, CBT helps us identify the thought patterns and behavioral cycles that quietly drive how we feel, and work to reshape them in ways that actually stick. In practice, this looks like collaborative exploration — examining the connections between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, then building concrete skills you can use between sessions and long after our work together ends. I find CBT especially powerful when paired with medication management, as both work to address different layers of the same struggle. My approach to CBT is never rigid or mechanical. I adapt the framework to fit your personality, goals, and pace — because the most effective therapy is the kind you can actually engage with.
