New to Grow
Hi, I’m Megan Smith, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) who works with clients navigating anxiety, trauma, depression, burnout, and neurodivergence. My approach is warm, collaborative, and person-centered, with a strong focus on creating a safe and affirming space where clients feel genuinely seen and understood. I believe healing happens through connection, self-understanding, and learning new ways to move through life with greater confidence, balance, and authenticity.
In our first session, you can expect a supportive and collaborative space where we begin getting to know each other and discussing what brings you to therapy. We’ll explore your current concerns, relevant past experiences, and goals for treatment at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My priority is helping you feel safe, understood, and supported as we begin building a therapeutic relationship together.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to create a safe, trusting, and affirming environment where clients feel comfortable being fully themselves. I take a person-centered and trauma-informed approach that balances compassion with meaningful growth and self-exploration. I also integrate EMDR and neurodivergent-affirming care to help clients better understand their experiences, process difficult emotions, and build healthier, more sustainable ways of coping and relating to themselves and others.
I am best positioned to support clients navigating anxiety, trauma, depression, burnout, and neurodivergence who may feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, disconnected from themselves, or stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand. Many of my clients are highly self-aware yet struggle with self-criticism, people-pleasing, emotional regulation, or feeling misunderstood by others. They are often seeking greater self-understanding, healthier relationships, improved coping skills, and a life that feels more manageable, authentic, and fulfilling.
Other specialties
I identify as
Person-centered (Rogerian)
My approach to therapy is person-centered, meaning I believe healing happens through a safe, supportive, and authentic therapeutic relationship. I strive to create a space where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and accepted without judgment. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I collaborate with clients to understand their unique experiences, strengths, and goals while supporting them in building insight, confidence, and meaningful change.
EMDR
I incorporate EMDR therapy to help clients process traumatic experiences, reduce emotional distress, and challenge negative beliefs about themselves that may feel stuck or overwhelming. EMDR supports the brain’s natural ability to heal by helping clients safely reprocess difficult memories in a structured and collaborative way. My approach to EMDR is paced thoughtfully and grounded in creating safety, trust, and emotional regulation throughout the process.
