I’m a trauma‑informed mental health counselor with 15 years of experience supporting adults through life transitions, emotional overwhelm, and healing work. I specialize in helping women navigate perimenopause‑related mood changes, anxiety, depression, chronic stress, and weight‑related concerns, including bariatric surgery evaluations. I also work with individuals experiencing substance use concerns or addiction. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in helping you feel understood, supported, and empowered to create meaningful change.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, we’ll take time to understand what brings you to therapy, what you’ve been carrying, and what you hope to change or feel differently about. I’ll ask questions about your history, current stressors, emotional patterns, and any symptoms you’re experiencing. This is a collaborative conversation — there is no pressure to share more than you’re ready for. We’ll identify your immediate needs, begin clarifying your goals, and discuss the treatment approaches that may best support you. If you’re seeking a bariatric assessment or exploring substance use concerns, I’ll walk you through that process step‑by‑step. By the end of the session, you’ll have a clearer sense of direction and what our work together can look like.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strengths include creating a safe, grounded, and non‑judgmental space where clients feel genuinely heard and supported. I bring extensive experience in trauma‑informed care, emotional regulation, anxiety and depression treatment, and women’s mental health — including perimenopause, identity shifts, and weight‑related concerns. As a CASAC II, I also provide skilled support for individuals navigating substance use, misuse, or addiction. I’m skilled at helping clients slow down, make sense of their experiences, and build practical tools that foster resilience, clarity, and emotional balance. My approach blends evidence‑based methods with compassion, cultural responsiveness, and a deep respect for your lived experience.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to support adult women who are navigating major life transitions, emotional overwhelm, and changes that impact their sense of identity and well‑being. Many of the clients I work with are experiencing perimenopause‑related mood shifts, depression, general anxiety, chronic stress, or challenges with emotional regulation. I also support women working toward weight management goals or preparing for bariatric surgery, including completing the required psychological assessment. In addition to my work with women’s emotional health, I am trained and experienced in supporting individuals with substance use concerns, misuse, or addiction. I provide a non‑judgmental, trauma‑informed space where clients can explore their relationship with substances, build insight, and strengthen motivation for change at a pace that feels safe. My ideal clients are those who are ready to understand themselves more deeply, develop healthier coping strategies, and create meaningful, sustainable change in their lives. Whether you’re adjusting to a new phase of life, healing from past experiences, or working toward personal wellness goals, I’m here to support you with compassion, clarity, and evidence‑based care.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I use a person‑centered approach to create a therapeutic space where you feel genuinely heard, respected, and understood. This method allows you to lead the pace and direction of your healing while I provide empathy, unconditional positive regard, and a non‑judgmental presence. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to support your self‑awareness, strengthen your inner resources, and help you reconnect with your sense of agency and emotional clarity.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution‑Focused Therapy helps you move toward your goals by identifying your strengths, resources, and what’s already working in your life. Instead of staying stuck in the problem, we focus on small, achievable steps that create momentum and confidence. This approach is empowering, future‑oriented, and especially helpful during times of transition or when you’re feeling overwhelmed.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help you understand how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we identify unhelpful patterns, challenge negative thinking, and build practical coping skills you can use in everyday life. CBT is structured, collaborative, and focused on helping you gain clarity, reduce distress, and create meaningful change at a pace that feels manageable.

Motivational Interviewing

I use Motivational Interviewing to help you explore ambivalence, strengthen your motivation, and make changes that align with your values. MI is collaborative and non‑judgmental — you set the direction, and I help you clarify what matters most. This approach is especially effective when you’re navigating life changes, building healthier habits, or working through internal conflict.

Positive Psychology

Positive Psychology helps you cultivate well‑being, purpose, and emotional balance. We explore what brings you meaning, joy, and fulfillment while building habits that support long‑term mental health. This approach is uplifting, empowering, and grounded in evidence‑based practices that help you thrive, not just cope.
