New to Grow
Welcome! I'm Cindy. Taking the step to explore therapy is an act of courage and self-care. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just curious about personal growth, therapy can be a space to pause, reflect, and find strategies that actually work for you. Becoming a therapist came naturally. Growing up, I was the friend people turned to for a listening ear and nonjudgmental perspective. I loved helping others sort through their thoughts and feelings, always believing they are the experts of their own lives. That approach guides my work with every client. As a first-generation American born to Caribbean parents, I understand the unique pressures and strengths of the African diaspora. I’m passionate about destigmatizing mental health care, serving historically underserved communities, and helping people tap into their resilience to feel more confident and empowered. In our sessions, we’ll explore challenges like anxiety, depression, life transitions, or self-care struggles and build practical strategies that fit your life. I focus on helping clients set boundaries, communicate assertively, and reclaim a sense of control and purpose. Therapy is a space to reflect, grow, and create the life you want. If you’re ready to take that step, I’m here to walk alongside you.
Your first session is all about you. We’ll start by getting to know each other and exploring what brought you to therapy. I’ll ask about your goals, challenges, and any patterns you’ve noticed in your thoughts, feelings, or relationships. This session is a safe space to share openly. There’s no pressure to have all the answers. By the end, we’ll have a clearer sense of your priorities, and we’ll start thinking about strategies and tools that can help you feel more balanced, confident, and in control of your life.
What makes my approach different? I meet you where you are without judgment, and work with you to make real, practical changes. I combine evidence-based strategies with self-awareness and, when it fits, faith-informed guidance to help you navigate life’s challenges. Together, we’ll spot patterns, set boundaries, and build tools that actually work for your life. Most importantly, clients walk away feeling clearer, more confident, and ready to handle whatever comes next.
I work with adults who are ready to grow but feel stuck—whether it’s navigating life transitions, managing anxiety, or shaking off lingering self-doubt. Many of my clients seem to have it all together on the outside but struggle internally with overthinking, people-pleasing, or feeling disconnected from themselves. They come to therapy seeking clarity, balance, and practical tools to handle their emotions and relationships more effectively. My clients value a collaborative, compassionate space where faith, self-awareness, and evidence-based strategies come together to create real, lasting change.
In our sessions, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence each other. Together, we work on identifying unhelpful thinking patterns and practicing more balanced ways of viewing situations. Over time, clients gain tools to better manage their emotions and respond to challenges with greater confidence and clarity.
As requested by clients, I integrate faith-based principles to help clients draw strength and guidance from their spiritual beliefs. We explore how faith can offer hope, perspective, and purpose during difficult times. This approach helps clients align their emotional healing with their spiritual growth, fostering a deeper sense of peace and resilience.
I use a strengths-based approach to help clients recognize and build on the abilities and qualities they already possess. We focus on what’s going well and how those strengths can be used to overcome challenges. This approach helps clients feel more empowered, confident, and capable of creating positive change in their lives.
I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to guide clients toward the changes they want to see in their lives. Rather than focusing on problems, we highlight strengths, past successes, and what’s already working. By identifying clear goals and practical next steps, clients build confidence and make meaningful progress in a short amount of time.
