I am Dr. Dana Baldwin, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia. My education includes a BA in psychology, MA in professional counseling and a PhD in Child and Family Psychology. My therapy practice Baldwin-Jones and Associates Counseling Services, LLC provides outpatient therapy to children, adolescents, adults and families to treat a range of multiple issues ranging from trauma recovery, mood disorders, persistent and pervasive mental illness to managing daily stressors of life. I specialize in treating trauma, LGBTQIA+ issues, women's issues, military service and military family issues, medical co-morbidity with chronic illness, and youth behavior support and parenting. My approach is collaborative and compassionate. I believe that therapy is a safe space where you don’t have to face challenges alone. Together, we will work to identify obstacles, build coping skills, and create lasting positive change so you can move forward with resilience and hope.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, I will provide you a safe and non-judgmental space. Stepping into therapy takes courage, and I want you to feel completely at ease. Our first session is an informal, collaborative conversation. We will focus on getting to know each other, discussing what brought you to therapy, and identifying what you hope to achieve. There is no pressure to share your entire life story on day one; you set the pace. It is also an opportunity for you to ask me questions to ensure I am the right fit for your journey.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

With over 20 years of experience and experience in many spaces, both private and community, I'm skilled in building supportive and compassionate relationships with my clients and their families. Clients connect with my caring, accepting, warm, cheerful and positive approach. I believe that you are the expert in your lives that you live 24/7 and we work together as a "team" to help you feel empowered and confident to navigate your life independently. We will look at how certain patterns function in your everyday life and identify areas for growth, while identifying and utilizing your strengths. I provide a warm, judgment-free space that respects your unique background and values. Together, we’ll work as a team, using your existing strengths to navigate challenges and build the life you want.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with individuals who are ready to explore their thoughts and feelings in a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment. My clients are often seeking relief from mood disorders, family issues, or the effects of trauma, and are motivated to better understand themselves and their patterns. In our work together, I strive to provide empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness to help facilitate self-exploration and growth. Common goals include building self-awareness, improving emotional regulation, enhancing self-esteem, and developing greater self-acceptance. Whether you are navigating life transitions, struggling with relationships, or simply seeking personal growth, I am here to support you on your journey.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person-centered therapy (also known as client-centered or Rogerian therapy) is a humanistic approach to psychotherapy. It empowers you as the expert on your own life, while your therapist acts as a compassionate, non-judgmental guide to help you discover your own solutions and reach your full potential.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a practical, short-term talk therapy that teaches you how to identify and change negative thought patterns. By exploring how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected, it empowers you to replace unhelpful habits with healthier coping mechanisms and improve your daily well-being.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a short-term, goal-directed approach that emphasizes building solutions rather than analyzing problems. It focuses on your current strengths and future hopes to help you achieve reasonable relief as quickly as possible.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma-informed care (TIC) is a relationship-based framework that shifts the approach from "What is wrong with you?" to "What happened to you?" It recognizes the widespread impact of trauma, understands pathways for recovery, and actively avoids re-traumatization across all policies, procedures, and interactions.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an action-oriented form of psychotherapy. It teaches you to mindfully accept difficult thoughts and emotions rather than fighting them. By removing the struggle, you can commit to positive behavioral changes that align with your core personal values.
