Hi I am a Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW) in the state of Michigan. I received my Masters Degree from Wayne State University and have been practicing for 23 years. I support children and caregivers in addressing a variety of issues that might be impacting relationships. I help parents and children create the relationships that they are wanting for themselves. I also support adults who are struggling in their relationships with partners, friends, co-workers and even their relationship with themself.
In our first session we will do brief introductions, I will explain my approach to therapy and what a typical session may look like. I will gather a lot of information to better understand what is bringing you in for therapy. We will begin discussing the goals you have for therapy and the skills you might want to develop during our time together.
Having worked with relationships for the past 24 years, I have experienced all kinds of dynamics. I have developed a style of being curious, non judgmental and supportive in therapy. I use the therapeutic relationship as a safe space to explore past and current relationships to support clients in creating healthy relationships for the present and the future.
I am an endorsed infant mental health professional for the past 8 years and have been working with young children for the majority of my career. I believe that the basis for all relationships starts with your early attachment experiences in your family of origin. In therapy support clients in exploring their attachment style and how that contributes to their current functioning in relationships.
I am a certified CPP trained therapist for the past 3 years. I use this treatment method with children under the age of 6 and their caregiver that have experienced trauma. This is an evidence based practice that helps the parent create a better understanding of the child's experiences and how trauma impacts development and functioning. It also helps the caregiver to have a narrative to help explain and put into context for the child what has occurred in their early life.
I have been providing couples counseling for the past year. I use my training and experiences with relationship based work to help couples navigate challenges in their relationship.
I have provided family therapy for the past 14 years. I support families in exploring dynamics within their family unit that are impacting the functioning of the members.
I am trained and certified in TF-CBT for the past 9 years. I use this evidence based practice for helping children and youth 7+ who have experienced trauma. This is a systematic approach to skills development and processing of traumatic experiences. Caregivers participate as well through learning about how trauma impacts development and other forms of psychoeducation and supporting the child/youth through the processing of their trauma.
