Chelsea Poulos
Hi there! I’m Chelsea, a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) based in Michigan. I received my Master’s degree from the University of Michigan with a concentration in interpersonal practice with children, youth and families. I have spent the majority of my career, 8 years, working with children and their parents/entire family as they navigate the challenges and stressors that come with every day life.
First session
During the first session, you can expect me to ask some questions to better understand your history, where you are at and what you would like to work on. You will also have the opportunity to share as openly as you like about yourself while we begin the journey and start to build trust and comfort with one another gradually.
Strengths
My strength as a provider is that while I tend to be a bit on the quieter side, this really allows us to find balance in each session and for you to have a calm, safe space to share and grow. I engage in active listening and interact honestly with you in order to meet you where you are at and support your needs in the moment.
Ideal clients
I love working with new and experienced parents who may be dealing with parenting or relationship concerns that can come up while raising children and from the stress of every day life. I also have a passion for working with children, and have a lot of experience working in the special needs and early childhood world with children and their parents.
Treatment methods
Attachment-based
I have been using Attachment-Based therapy since starting to practice 8 years ago. I find it very beneficial to utilize to help in understanding and working with children and dealing with trauma.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have used CBT for about a year and am very passionate about the useful skills and techniques that can be learned to help change patterns of negative thoughts and behaviors to have more positive outcomes in your life.
Strength-Based
I have used Strengths-Based techniques for about a year to help my clients understand and draw out their strengths and resilience as they go through hard times.
