What if your story does not end here? You might feel stuck—replaying old patterns, carrying everyone else’s burdens, dimming your own light just to keep the peace. Maybe you are the one everyone leans on, but inside you are exhausted—carrying anxiety, grief, or wounds you have never had space to heal. Many of the women I work with have experienced church hurt that has shaken their faith, childhood trauma that still echoes in their relationships, the pressure to hold everything together, or the quiet loneliness of motherhood and major life transitions. They are strong, capable, faith-filled women who have simply carried more than anyone should carry alone. In our sessions, we will explore your story, identify patterns keeping you stuck, build healthy boundaries, and use practical tools to help you move toward peace and purpose. I integrate evidence-based therapies—including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, and solution-focused strategies—with faith-honoring principles for clients who desire spiritual integration. Together, we will create a safe space for your emotions and your faith to coexist as we work toward healing. I do not offer quick fixes or clichés. Instead, we will explore how your past shapes your present, challenge limiting beliefs, and strengthen your emotional and spiritual resilience. I believe boundaries are sacred, healing is possible, and your story still has power. I have worked in universities, church ministries, and schools, as well as walking alongside women from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. For the past 15 years, I have trained and supervised future counselors as an educator of counseling, and I bring both professional expertise and personal faith to this sacred work. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC).
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, we will focus on getting to know each other and discussing the challenges that led you to seek counseling. This time will allow me to listen to your story, including your experiences, emotions, and hopes. Together, we will begin developing a personalized plan that addresses your unique needs. Our goal is to create a path forward that supports your healing, honors your faith, and guides you toward greater peace and wholeness.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I welcome women from all backgrounds and have experience supporting them in various ways: • Christian women navigating church hurt, spiritual conflict, and faith integration • English-speaking immigrants and refugees (especially from the Caribbean/West Indies) adjusting to life in the U.S. • Women healing from childhood trauma, toxic relationships, and family-of-origin pain • Mothers experiencing burnout and identity loss • Women walking through grief, loss, and major life transitions With my background in counseling and over a decade of experience training counselors at the graduate level, I am well-equipped to support emotional healing that respects both faith and evidence-based practices. Drawing on my training in counseling and theology, my lived experiences, and a deep commitment to my Christian faith, I help women break free from unhealthy patterns and learn to establish healthier attachments—with themselves, others, and God. As a fluent English and Caribbean Creole speaker, I also bring cultural understanding to women navigating identity, belonging, and cross-cultural adjustment.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal clients are women who have spent years being strong for everyone else—but are finally ready to be honest about their pain. They may love God deeply yet struggle with anxiety, grief, or wounds from their past. Many have tried to “pray it away,” only to realize that faith and therapy can work together to bring deeper healing. They are women who want a space where both their emotions and their beliefs are respected—where they can speak freely about church experiences, relationships, trauma, or seasons of doubt without fear of judgment. My clients are often high-functioning, compassionate, and spiritually minded, yet privately exhausted from carrying more than they were ever meant to hold alone. They come to therapy because they are: • Tired of over-functioning, people-pleasing, or living on autopilot • Struggling to set or maintain boundaries in family, ministry, or work • Trying to heal from church hurt, betrayal, or spiritual burnout • Wrestling with childhood trauma or generational patterns that still affect adult relationships • Seeking clarity and purpose during life transitions or seasons of loss These women are not looking for quick fixes—they are ready for deep, lasting change. They value honesty, reflection, and gentle challenge. They want to grow emotionally, strengthen spiritually, and live from a place of peace and authenticity. If that sounds like you, I want you to know this: you do not have to carry it alone anymore. Together, we will walk through your story, make sense of what has been weighing you down, and begin the sacred work of rebuilding your life from the inside out.
Christian Counseling
I am a mental health counselor with specialized experience in faith-integrated counseling. I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults across diverse settings. My approach is holistic, ethical, and collaborative—helping clients connect emotional, psychological, and spiritual healing in ways that honor their beliefs and values. For clients who desire it, I incorporate faith-based reflection and spiritual principles alongside evidence-based counseling techniques, supporting growth that is both clinically sound and spiritually meaningful.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have been utilizing Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my counseling work with individuals to help identify and challenge unhelpful patterns of thinking. This evidence-based approach supports clients in recognizing how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact, allowing them to view challenging situations with greater clarity and respond in more balanced, effective ways. For clients who desire it, I ethically integrate faith-based reflection and spiritual principles alongside CBT techniques—helping them align renewed thinking with deeper values, spiritual growth, and emotional healing.
Trauma Informed Care
I also incorporate trauma-informed principles, creating a therapeutic space grounded in safety, trust, and empowerment. This means we move at your pace, exploring difficult emotions and experiences with care and compassion while strengthening your capacity to heal and thrive. For clients who desire it, I ethically integrate faith-based reflection, spiritual principles, and guided practices that support emotional renewal, forgiveness, and reconnection—to self, others, and God. The process helps clients detach from old patterns of pain and build secure, grace-centered ways of living that reflect peace, purpose, and wholeness. This holistic approach brings together the best of clinical practice and spiritual insight, allowing lasting change to take root from the inside out.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I also draw on solution-focused therapy to help clients recognize their existing strengths, resources, and God-given resilience. Rather than focusing solely on problems, this approach emphasizes what’s already working and builds on small, achievable steps toward lasting change. Together, we explore practical solutions and new perspectives that foster hope, confidence, and momentum in your healing journey. For clients who desire it, I incorporate faith-based reflection and spiritual discernment—helping them identify how divine purpose and inner wisdom can guide next steps. This strengths-based and spiritually attuned approach empowers clients to move forward with renewed clarity, faith, and direction.

Dr. Stephaney Morrison is amazing! I come excited for therapy. This is the first time in my history of therapy that I'm excited to come to therapy. I'm taking my healing very seriously her being attentive to me and understanding me is a part of that. This is an answered prayer. Even knowing that my prayers are being answered is healing in itself, and a mindset shift.
