Hi! I'm a Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC) based in Michigan. I received my Masters from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and have been practicing for 3 years. I help adults and teens navigate issues such as ADHD, interpersonal and other relationship issues, trauma and PTSD, transitional periods, grief, and more. I have worked with psycho education around conscious parenting as well. I am a certified reiki master practitioner and I can incorporate that modality into sessions if people are open and interested.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. We will make sure you feel comfortable and that we are a good fit, as the counselor-client relationship is one of the biggest predictors of success in therapy work.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am very good at helping people see and accept themselves, something that many people who have dealt with trauma or are in the early stages of adulthood deal with quite frequently. I help people search within for answers that will help them gain self awareness in order to help them make the best decisions for themselves, and not feel guilty or indecisive about making those decisions. I have worked well with people who are exploring their spiritual identity and sometimes healing from religious trauma. I help people find the root of their symptoms, whatever those are, and identify what next steps are best to heal those issues. I can help people who are struggling with relationships, whether the relationship struggle is internal or external. I have worked with many adults who have been diagnosed with ADHD later in life to help resolve trauma which often surrounds that, as well as find systems to manage the symptoms more effectively. As a reiki practitioner, I often used that modality within sessions to help with trauma work when people are interested.

My treatment methods

Narrative

I incorporate Narrative Therapy in most sessions, as I believe that our values, motivations, and the stories we have internalized through various cultural and societal programming, mixed with how we perceive the world, is what shapes our reality. If we can explore these stories more deeply, sometimes challenging them, sometimes accepting them more fully, we can find greater peace, actualization, and acceptance of ourselves and the world around us.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

This may be used in situations where there really is not a “fix”, and what we need in order to reduce suffering is to accept what has happened and begin to move forward. This type of therapy focuses heavily on the “circle of control”, and I use it with narrative therapy to help find the “why” behind our search for control in different areas of our lives.

Existential

If you’re looking to explore yourself more deeply, going through a transition, or are having issues with a harsh inner critic (and more) existential therapy can help you pave new pathways in your brain to see things or experience things differently, or to find your source of fulfillment. I love existential therapy for processing trauma, transitional periods, and much more.

Gestalt

We are the pieces that make us, sometimes all we need to do is rearrange those pieces to make a different picture of our life or ourselves. Gestalt works wonders in interpersonal relationship issues, identity issues or transitions, and can be used alongside narrative therapy to change perspectives which may limit our growth or potential.

Strength-Based

Best used with clients who are in need of coaching and have a specific issue they’d like to solve or manage, this type of therapy can be used to identify strengths and how clients can use those to find a new perspective or solution. I’ll focus on habit changing or management, interpersonal relationship concerns, or transitional periods using this method.
