Nick Bischoff
Less Meds. More YOU. I work with adults who feel stuck despite years of medication, therapy, or personal growth work. Many come to me wondering whether their medications are still helping, feeling emotionally disconnected, or sensing that managing symptoms hasn't brought real healing.
I bring a grounded, attuned presence, an integrative lens, and a unique blend of psychotherapy, integrative psychiatry, somatic work, and nervous-system–rooted care.
What I do is fairly simple, and more rare than it should be. Together, we work identifying and shifting what's actually driving the suffering beneath the symptoms. We then choose a path forward that leads towards real healing, rather than simply managing symptoms. Sometimes that's psychotherapy, mind-body practices, lifestyle changes, targeted supplementation or medication when appropriate. Often, it's a blend. On medication: If it's right for you, we may use medication in. a thoughtful, goal oriented way. We also may carefully reduce or let go of medications you no longer need. My approach is collaborative and I will always work with you on how we accomplish your goals. I pair this with a supportive, trauma-informed therapeutic approach that helps you manage and process difficult emotions, get to the root of the suffering, and recognize and shift the patterns standing in your way. This is substantive clinical work, not just prescribing or deprescribing, and it always moves at a pace that works for you. My core philosophy is that healing is about more than reducing symptoms. It's about reconnecting with yourself, finding more alignment, and building a greater sense of clarity, authenticity, and self-trust.
First session
Our first session together is typically 60 minutes. In our first session, you can expect a calm, unhurried space where we get to know what's really going on beneath the surface. I'll ask about your history, your patterns, and your goals, and just as importantly, I'll listen for what feels stuck, overwhelming, or ready to shift. If you're on medications, we'll talk honestly about how they're actually working for you and whether they still fit where you're headed. From there we'll start building a plan that's right for you, whether that's therapy, thoughtful medication changes, or a mix of approaches. We won't rush any of it. My goal is for you to leave that first conversation feeling understood, supported, and genuinely hopeful about what's possible.
Strengths
My greatest strengths lie in helping clients access the deeper layers beneath their symptoms. I bring a grounded, attuned presence and an integrative lens that draws together psychotherapy, thoughtful psychiatric care, and a deep attention to how distress lives in the body and the nervous system. I'm skilled at tracking the emotional and physiological patterns that drive suffering, and at helping people safely unwind them. Whether we're working on trauma, medication reduction, emotional numbness, or a major life transition, I create a space where you feel seen, settled, and empowered. My approach helps people reconnect with clarity, emotional range, and their own inner wisdom, so change becomes not just possible, but sustainable.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are individuals who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves, even after trying traditional treatment. My ideal clients are individuals who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves, even after trying traditional treatment. I work best with people who are insightful, motivated, and ready to explore the deeper layers beneath their symptoms. Many come to me navigating trauma, anxiety, spiritual transition, or long-term medication use that no longer feels aligned. I help clients unlearn old survival patterns, reconnect to their emotional wisdom, and build nervous-system safety so real healing can happen. If you're seeking clarity, wholeness, and meaningful change, not just symptom management, this work is designed for you.
Treatment methods
Supportive
My foundation is a warm, collaborative relationship where you feel genuinely heard. I help you make sense of what you're carrying, including the different and sometimes conflicting parts of your experience, with curiosity and compassion rather than judgment. As those inner experiences feel understood, they tend to soften, giving you more access to clarity, choice, and a steadier sense of yourself. This is the ground everything else in our work is built on.
Attachment-based
So much of how we connect, trust, and feel safe was shaped by our earliest relationships. Together we gently explore the patterns you learned long ago and how they show up in your life now, without judgment and at your own pace. My aim is to offer a steady, secure relational space where healthier, more grounded ways of relating to yourself and others can take root.
Mind-body approach
Much of our emotional experience lives in the body. I help you tune into sensations, tension, breath, and the signals your nervous system is sending, not to push anything away, but to understand what it's trying to tell you. When difficult emotions are felt and allowed in the body, they can begin to ease. This work supports nervous-system regulation, a greater sense of calm, and a deeper connection to yourself.
Trauma-Informed Care
Everything I do is rooted in safety, collaboration, and respect for your nervous system. I move at your pace, honor your boundaries, and never push for disclosure or intensity you're not ready for. Trauma-informed care means we center your sense of choice and empowerment, and we focus on helping your system feel safe enough that real healing can happen.
