Hi there, I'm Dr. Tiffany Way. With over 20 years of experience as a licensed clinical social worker, I've dedicated my life to guiding individuals towards healing and empowerment through psychotherapy. I believe in the power of therapy to transform lives. Together, we'll work towards unlocking your inner strength and uncovering the tools you need to live a fulfilling and meaningful life. Take the first step towards healing today. I'm here to walk alongside you on your journey towards greater well-being.
In our first telehealth session, we’ll meet from the comfort of your own space and begin getting to know each other. I’ll ask a few gentle questions to understand what’s been on your mind and what you’re hoping to work through. There’s no need to prepare or be perfect, this is your time, and we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you.
What sets me apart is the way I combine deep clinical experience with a grounded, compassionate presence. With over 20 years in the field, I bring the wisdom of working in diverse settings, from hospitals and rehabilitation centers to prisons and private practice, which gives me a wide lens and deep understanding of human resilience. I take a holistic, individualized approach that honors the whole person mind, body, and spirit. I integrate both Western psychology and Eastern healing traditions, offering a flexible and culturally attuned space where you can truly feel seen and supported. As a Black woman and trauma specialist, I hold space with cultural humility, real-life understanding, and a commitment to helping you heal in a way that aligns with your truth, not just a diagnosis.
I specialize in working with adults who are ready to heal, grow, and reconnect with themselves. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or weighed down by the past, and are looking for a safe, supportive space to sort through it all. You might be a good fit to work with me if: You’ve experienced trauma—whether recent or from early in life—and are ready to process and heal in a gentle, compassionate environment. You’re a high-achiever or caregiver who’s feeling burned out, anxious, or emotionally drained, even though everything seems fine on the outside. You’re navigating life with both mental health and substance use challenges and need someone who understands how these struggles connect. You’re open to a holistic, mind-body approach that may include both traditional and integrative tools, blending Western psychology with Eastern-informed practices like mindfulness and somatic awareness. You want to work with a therapist who sees and affirms all of who you are—especially if you've felt overlooked, misunderstood, or marginalized in other spaces. As a Black woman and clinician, I hold space for the unique experiences of people navigating identity, intergenerational trauma, and systemic challenges. My approach is always rooted in cultural humility, respect, and empowerment. If you see yourself reflected here, I invite you to reach out. Healing is possible, and you don’t have to do it alone.
I use CBT to help clients identify and reframe distorted thinking patterns that contribute to emotional distress and maladaptive behaviors. Through structured interventions like thought records and behavioral experiments, clients learn to challenge negative beliefs and build healthier coping strategies. CBT provides a practical, goal-oriented framework that empowers clients to make measurable progress.
I incorporate DBT to support clients in building skills around emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. This approach is especially valuable for individuals experiencing intense emotional responses or struggling with impulsivity and self-harming behaviors. I utilize both individual sessions and skills training to help clients balance acceptance with change.
I use Schema Therapy to explore and heal early maladaptive schemas that continue to influence clients’ patterns of thinking, feeling, and relating. Through a combination of cognitive, experiential, and behavioral techniques, clients gain insight into the origins of their schemas and develop healthier modes of functioning. This deeper approach is particularly effective for chronic emotional difficulties and personality-related challenges.
ACT allows me to guide clients in developing psychological flexibility by helping them accept difficult thoughts and feelings while committing to values-based action. I use metaphors, mindfulness exercises, and values clarification to help clients detach from unhelpful internal narratives. This process supports clients in living more meaningful and purpose-driven lives.
In grief counseling, I create a supportive and validating space for clients to process loss at their own pace. I utilize a blend of narrative techniques, psychoeducation, and emotion-focused work to help clients make meaning of their grief and adjust to life without their loved one. My approach honors the uniqueness of each individual’s grieving process, whether the loss is recent or unresolved from the past.
