My name is Samantha Yeager, Ph.D., and I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. I have extensive clinical experience helping clients cope with anxiety, depression, stress management, life transitions, PTSD, substance use disorders, and chronic medical conditions (e.g., cancer, insomnia). I believe in a person-centered approach to therapy and work collaboratively with my clients to develop a personalized treatment plan. I currently offer individual therapy for adults (ages 18+).
In our first session, I will ask you a lot questions to get a detailed understanding of who you are and what are your current concerns. At the end of our first session, we will collaboratively discuss a treatment plan to optimize how I can best help you.
Through my Ph.D. training and career as a Clinical Psychologist, I have achieved clinical expertise using evidence-based interventions to provide you with the highest quality of care. I believe in a person-centered approach to therapy which will allow you to engage in therapy at your own pace. I will provide you with the therapeutic skills and help you draw upon your own personal strengths.
I specialize in working with adults who would like support coping with anxiety, depression, stress management, life transitions, PTSD, substance use disorders, and chronic medical conditions (e.g., cancer, insomnia).
I have expertise using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help clients learn about the interconnection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By learning CBT skills, my clients are able to improve their mood, adjust maladaptive thinking patterns, and engage in behaviors that are aligned with their values. I have expertise using CBT for depression, anxiety, coping with chronic illnesses, and stress management. I also have specialized training in adapted CBT interventions including, CBT for insomnia (CBT-I), CBT for chronic pain (CBT-CP), and CBT for substance use disorders (CBT-SUD).
I have specialized training using acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to help clients cope with anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, and chronic medical conditions (i.e., cancer). ACT helps clients achieve balance by using mindfulness to stay in the present moment, develop nonjudgemental awareness of thoughts and feelings, and identify personal values to direct behaviors towards a value-driven life.
Through working with Veterans and clients in community care clinics, I have developed expertise delivering PTSD interventions for those with childhood and adult traumas. I am certified in both evidence-based PTSD interventions including, Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).
I have expertise in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to help clients manage intense emotions, enhance emotion regulation, develop effective communication skills, adjust maladaptive thinking patterns, and improve relationships. Through DBT I help clients identify emotional triggers and develop mindfulness coping strategies to live a balanced life.
I often incorporate mindfulness therapeutic techniques into my sessions to help clients focus on the present moment without self-criticism or judgement.
