Hi, I’m Rico Bodin. I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Master-Level Addiction Professional, and I’m really glad you’re here. Reaching out for support can feel like a big step, and you don’t have to do it alone. I work with adults and couples who are navigating anxiety, trauma, substance use, codependency, and questions around identity—often during times that feel overwhelming or uncertain. My approach is warm, collaborative, and strengths-based. That means we’ll move at your pace, focusing not just on what’s been difficult, but also on the resilience and insight you already carry. Together, we can make sense of your experiences, develop practical tools, and help you reconnect with who you are and what matters most to you. Whether you’re healing from the past or trying to create a more grounded, balanced present, I’m here to support you in moving forward—with clarity, confidence, and compassion.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out or to explain things perfectly. This is a comfortable, judgment-free space where you can show up exactly as you are. I’ll gently guide the conversation with a few questions to better understand what’s been going on, what matters most to you, and what you’d like to get out of therapy. You’re always in control of what you share and how we move forward. By the end of our time together, we’ll have a clearer picture of where to start and a shared sense of direction, so you can leave feeling heard, supported, and a little more at ease about what comes next for journey in therapy.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What sets my approach apart is the balance I bring between practical strategies and deep, compassionate understanding. Drawing from evidence-based methods like CBT, DBT, EFT and Solution-Focused Therapy, I tailor each session to your needs helping you build real-life skills while addressing the emotional roots of your struggles. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Certified Master-Level Addiction Professional, and Qualified Supervisor, I bring years of clinical experience supporting individuals and couples through trauma, addiction, identity exploration, and relationship challenges. My clients often share that they feel seen, challenged, and genuinely supported and that our work leads to lasting change, not just insight. Real Talk - Real Healing - Real Change

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with individuals and couples who are ready, even if just a little, to look inward and create meaningful change in their lives and relationships. You don’t have to have it all figured out; just a willingness to be honest, curious, and open to the process is enough. Many of my clients come in feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected, from themselves, their partner, or their sense of purpose. They may be navigating anxiety, past trauma, substance use, codependency, or identity-related questions, and are looking for clarity, stability, and a deeper understanding of who they are. With couples, I work well with partners who want to improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen their connection, even if things feel tense or uncertain right now. My role is to create a balanced, supportive space where both people feel heard and understood. If you’re someone who wants not just relief, but real growth, learning new tools, gaining insight, and building a more grounded, authentic life, then we’ll likely be a great fit.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, in my practice because it’s a practical, evidence-based approach that helps people understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. When we’re struggling whether with anxiety, depression, addiction, or stress. Our thinking can become distorted or overly negative. CBT gives us tools to recognize those patterns, challenge them, and replace them with healthier, more realistic ones.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use DBT because it helps people manage intense emotions, build stronger relationships, and feel more in control of their actions. It combines practical skills like mindfulness, emotional regulation, and healthy communication with a nonjudgmental, supportive approach. DBT is especially helpful if you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by your feelings or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy because it helps clients identify their strengths and focus on what’s already working. Instead of staying stuck in the past, we look toward the future by setting clear goals and building practical steps to get there. It’s a positive, empowering approach that helps you create change without needing to revisit every detail of your history.
