Hi! I’m Rico Bodin, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Master-Level Addiction Professional. I specialize in helping adults and couples navigate anxiety, trauma, substance use, codependency, and identity-related challenges — especially within the LGBTQ+ community. Through a supportive, strengths-based approach, I help clients gain insight, build resilience, and reconnect with a sense of purpose and authenticity. Whether you’re working through a difficult past or looking to create a more balanced present, I’m here to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.
In our first session, we’ll take time to get to know each other and explore what’s bringing you to therapy. You don’t need to have all the answers or explain everything perfectly this is a relaxed, judgment-free space where you can speak freely. I’ll ask some questions to better understand your concerns, goals, and what you hope to gain from our work together. By the end of the session, we’ll have a starting point and a shared sense of direction, so you can leave feeling heard, supported, and more at ease about the path ahead.
What sets my approach apart is the balance I bring between practical strategies and deep, compassionate understanding. Drawing from evidence-based methods like CBT, DBT, and Solution-Focused Therapy, I tailor each session to your needs helping you build real-life skills while addressing the emotional roots of your struggles. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Certified Master-Level Addiction Professional, and Qualified Supervisor, I bring years of clinical experience supporting individuals and couples through trauma, addiction, identity exploration, and relationship challenges. My clients often share that they feel seen, challenged, and genuinely supported and that our work leads to lasting change, not just insight. Real Talk - Real Healing - Real Change
I’m here for individuals and couples who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about how to move forward, whether you're navigating anxiety, trauma, substance use, codependency, or identity-related challenges. Many of my clients come in feeling disconnected, weighed down by past experiences, or unsure how to create lasting change. Together, we’ll focus on practical tools and meaningful insight to help you build clarity, confidence, and a stronger sense of self. Therapy with me is a collaborative space where your goals guide the process, and healing becomes possible.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, in my practice because it’s a practical, evidence-based approach that helps people understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. When we’re struggling whether with anxiety, depression, addiction, or stress. Our thinking can become distorted or overly negative. CBT gives us tools to recognize those patterns, challenge them, and replace them with healthier, more realistic ones.
I use DBT because it helps people manage intense emotions, build stronger relationships, and feel more in control of their actions. It combines practical skills like mindfulness, emotional regulation, and healthy communication with a nonjudgmental, supportive approach. DBT is especially helpful if you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by your feelings or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you.
I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy because it helps clients identify their strengths and focus on what’s already working. Instead of staying stuck in the past, we look toward the future by setting clear goals and building practical steps to get there. It’s a positive, empowering approach that helps you create change without needing to revisit every detail of your history.
